The PS4 mode looks pretty cool

Sad that it's exclusive to ReiNX
Used it before and it was fine, but I really don't have any intention of going back to it, not even for this sadly.
It's a super nice thing but not worth the hassle
Literally just statement of facts as I was curious enough to find out if it would work, sharing information is good remember. I'm actually out of salt right now, waiting on a grocery delivery.
Since it was decided the exploit was not to be burned, either you have your own way to sign your sept, or you use the one available. And you're on your own if you don't have one, i wouldn't see any valid complaint possible. It's like asking the exploit indirectly, i don't see what's wrong with another alternative to exo, if anything it could lead to a healthy competition.
I'm not remembering having criticized the design choices of deltalaunch, in any kind. I'm not advocating for any side, but i am usually not keen on shills. Also, I'm doubtful of whether the exploit used to get keys is unpatchable, and also curious how it's possible to make a claim on its "unpatchableness" not having said exploit, tho the point would be valid if you had. I'm at least very skeptical on the matter, until it's proven right or wrong. At least you were respectful and not-entitled about it
You are made of salt lol, you are the embodiment of gbatemp entitlement. Someone releases something for free
There is no reason to keep the signing key private, its unpatchable and clearly its existence is already known to nvidia / nintendo if scires is releasing signed stuff. The only purpose of signing sept and not signing anything else or releasing the key, is scires e-peen. Rei restricting qlaunch is really just a continuation of the shitty path scires went down, yet I dont see anyone criticizing scires here.
Just to be clear, I am not criticizing scires for not releasing the signing key. He and his team worked hard for those secrets, that is their right. I am just saying people are being shitty here for criticizing rei for something they wont criticize scires for. At the end of the day, its al lfree software and Rei does not owe anyone anything, people criticizing him for his choice are just entitled children.
sooo about the topic does anyone actually have this working? nothing but crashes for me - 7.1
Uhh. You do know that exploit affects many more devices than just the Switch. One of the exploits is unpatchable. But releasing it would be a horrible idea, as it affects many devices other than the Switch (anything with an nvidia falcon is affected)I'm not remembering having criticized the design choices of deltalaunch, in any kind. I see, if true that would make a valid reason imo into leaving it private.
releasing those keys would be illegal...I never said release the exploit, I said release the SIGNING KEY. ANd scires does not even have to do that, all he has to do is sign other developer's payloads, such as ReiNX, and he refuses to do so. Scires position is not defendable, outside of defending his e-peen.

I don't see how he should have to sign other payloads I mean ReiNX being an alternative CFW, and having a different vision/opinion on many things aka yea an alternative, it's standalone, and sciresm has no responsibility to maintain any part of it. It's like asking Sony to sign your HB because else they don't run on your stock PS4, except it's within the switch hb community, it's no valid reason. He technically could, but as he develops his own version of the cfw with its own design choices, he has no reason to do so. What would be next? Also PR the upstream changes to stratosphere?
To reiterate, just because someone has the exploit doesnt mean the whole community is entitled to have it, or to be able to use it (signing your payloads).
btw, if i could, i would too make some changes to sept, as simple as for example cosmetic changes on the splash for fun, but i'm on my own, and i don't have the keys, so it won't do. And I don't think in any way it could be right to ask for another version of sept, since it's clearly not the intended design.
You are correct, scires not not HAVE to sign other payloads, and by refusing to do so, he is basically trying to do vendor lock... the exact same thing rei is doing here with qlaunch. My point is that it is not fair for people to criticize rei for it, when scires is doing the exact same thing with zero crticism. I dont think its fair to criticize any of them, its their software their choice.
Then it's all right, i'm reiterating again, i don't criticize the lock (tho I did state how i believe it was implemented, out of curiosity). And I praise the future open-sourceness of it, so that people would be able to compile their custom version, fitting their desires (again sharing the builds are a different matter i don't condone)
I know you did not explicitly state this, but sept is not open source, I wouldnt fault rei at all if he kept qlaunch closed source. Scires really started all of this.
Says you with your closed source shit fakefoilI know you did not explicitly state this, but sept is not open source, I wouldnt fault rei at all if he kept qlaunch closed source. Scires really started all of this.

Not open source ???
What is that sept folder then, on their github repo?
The only claim you could have made is that you cant make sure the secondary stage in the release is 1:1 what's in the source, and even then, i can't say about that tbh, so it'd be somewhat valid

but it just is open source, and you can compile it yourself. You cannot sign it.There are a few reasons it isnt open source. But the most obvious one is that you cannot compile and use it. Sept cannot be modified. It is useless without the signing key, or scires signing custom payloads which he will not do.
