Hardware Switch wont charge

Ok, see if you can enter Safe Mode, by doing this:

1) Completely turn off your switch.
2) Press and hold both Vol. Up and Vol. Down
3) Tap (do not hold) Power button, while you still hold Vol. Up and Vol. Down
4) Keep holding the Vol. buttons till you boot into the safe mode (which gives you options to format the system)

Sorry, I can't help then. It seems there's a problem with the battery or the battery port. It may need some repair. =/
Hope you can find a fix, or someone else can come with a solution if there's any other left.

If the voltage dipped below 2.8v which is most likely has then the dock will only really sustain while trickle charging, this could take days and most likely you'll end up with a flat cell, check this;

I had a similar problem to yours and mine got solved by COMPLETELY powering off the switch, then let is charge on the dock for a good 30mins-1hour then try and reboot. Your problem may be different, but the switch to protect damage to the battery may not turn properly even if you've left it charging while powered on for a long period. My advice make sure its fully switched off and leave it to charge for ages, untill you know it has decent battery percentage.

Have you tried plugging the Nintendo Adapter (for the dock) straight in to the Switch and seeing if you can get it to boot that way?

Honestly at this point if you cannot get it to boot at all in any ways suggested here or tried personally its time to give a shout to Nintendo.
