I am on firmware 5.50 with custom firmware.

Chronoswitch Downgrader doesn't work on custom firmware 5.5, all I get is a "corrupted data" file. And because is custom firmware it says I am on firnware 9.9 when I try to upgrade usibg the official firmware 6 20.

And the guide says this:

If you are currently on an older custom firmware (such a 5.x or 3.x) then you might just be able to run an official update and jump right to the hacking steps, but if the PSP gives an error when you try then you will need to flash-install a clean original firmware before you can upgrade to 6.20 or 6.60. This is done via Hellcat's Recovery Flasher and a copy of the original firmware to flash.
  1. Download Hellcat's Recovery Flasher, and add the RECOVERY folder to your PSP's GAME folder.
  2. Download the Official Firmware 5.00 firmware file (search google for this), rename EBOOT.PBP to 500.PBP, and stick it in the root of your memory stick.
  3. Run Hellcat's, and hold L+R+Select while it's loading. When it runs it may warn you if you have GAME plugins enabled, and it will disable them, simply run Hellcat's again.
  4. When it loads, confirm your choice to enter advanced mode.
  5. At the second (garbled) warning, Select I AGREE, now take me to the program!
  6. At the main menu, make sure that Target FW is on 5.00, then go down to /! Install clean ORIGINAL FW (DANGEROUS!!!)
When the process is done you should be on a clean version of 5.00. This will ensure that you can properly upgrade to the latest firmware you want to hack.

I can't find firmware 5.0 anywhere.

I asked it because is it no option for you to remove your MOD,then update to official 6.61 and make the 6.61 PRO Mod ?
Please correct me if i´m absolut wrong about removing your exisitng CFW Mod.:teach:

Look at the back of the box, it says 200 not 2000. Dunno why Sony decided to add a zero later but whatever.

And I found a way to update to 6.20 and then to 6.20 custom firmware, yay!

Basically it needs Windows, a PC, the USB cable and a text editor like metapad. And access to the flash0 of the PSP.

Edit:

Steps
  1. Power on your PSP.
  2. Click the 'SELECT' button.
  3. Go to the USB Device. Change the Memory Stick to flash 0.
  4. Connect your PSP to your computer (On windows). Click VSH and click the version which is a text file. The version in the text will be 9.90. Change it to 5.50 and save it.
  5. Enjoy updating your PSP and add awesome games.

Why use 6.20? Most of the plugins I can find nowadays are for 6.6 and don't work on 6.20. Infinity does everything the 6.20 permapatch can, as well as letting you dual boot different cfws if you want. In some cases, having 6.61 Infinity (which I use for coldboot on my PSP 3000) installed can even let you unbrick your system! You also get the features that 6.61 has that 6.20 doesn't, like being able to sort games based on PSP/PS1/minis/Turbografx/Neo Geo, fixing a bug with Persona 3 Portable, and, of course, everyone's favorite: extra stability. (in all seriousness though, even the small updates like 6.61 that only patched a bug in a single game do add up.)

I may try to see if the permapatch of 6.60 works on my model of PSP-200 /2000 (Is the Star Wars one) later. But for now I am happy with the console working and being able to use DLC.

If I ever get Persona 3 I will play it on my Vita instead.

Digimon World Re Digitize, no matter the version, won't get past the save pront in my firmware, looks like I will have to use 6.60 if I want to play it.

And no, is not a memory card problem, not only every other game works just fine, I filled a 4 gb memory card until only 800 mb were left and the game still doesn't go past the save pront no matter what I do.

Yeah, no matter what I do it just goes back to the save pront and the only way to quit the game is to turn off the PSP.

Edit: Fixed it, for some reason the game used the circle button as a forward button instead of X.

YES !! Great I do not get attention to that,i simply pressed first "X" and the "O".
I am glad that it works for you now.:yaypsp:

Infinity works on all other PSPs. Mine isn't compatible with the cIPL flasher, but it works just fine with Infinity. I've only run Fast Recovery once because Infinity hasn't had any issues for me.
Infinity 1.2 (and 1.1/1.0) breaks the Go's savestates, learned that one the hard way. Since OP isn't using the superior model though, Infinity should be fine.

there is no point in upgrading to infinity for my PSP
As I said earlier, most plugins you'll find nowadays are exclusively for 6.61 as there's no point in making them for older firmwares. If you want to be able to use plenty of plugins to enhance your experience (and believe me, there really are a lot), you'll have to update from 6.20. Besides, if you were on a Go I wouldn't have recommended Infinity due to how it breaks pause.
