PPSSPP Switch Beta Release

PPSSPP/Libretro Switch Public Beta by m4xw
==========================================

After a lot of work, I am very happy to share this with all of you.
Audio & Video support works, many core options cause Issues tho.

It is mandatory to "Close Content" after changing any Core option and restarting RetroArch, else it will potentially crash, don't close the RetroArch menu!

Special thanks to hrydgard for everything he has done for the PPSSPP Project.
If you want to support his work, consider buying PPSSPP Gold https://central.ppsspp.org/buygold even if you don't use it!

I will PR it once the libretro port is finished, also implemented half of what's needed for a Standalone port ;)
Source is on my Github, but it's highly WIP and needs a custom RA and a custom ffmpeg, so you should just wait if you want to build it yourself ;)

Libretro Docs (important informations for this core):
https://docs.libretro.com/library/ppsspp/
Official Game Compatibility Tracker (your mileage might vary): https://report.ppsspp.org/games

GitHub (WIP Switch): https://github.com/m4xw/ppsspp/
GitHub (Official): https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp

Installation Instructions
==========================================

Drag & Drop the "retroarch" folder to the root of your SD, overwriting any file (it will not touch any options).
Assets are bundled, so you don't have to bother with that.

Notes
==========================================

If you are using ANY method of loading RetroArch OTHER than Atmosphere's title redirection feature, DO NOT report issues that you encounter.
These issues can skew testing and could very well be caused by loading through an unsupported method.

Video slowdowns are related to missing hardware accelerated decoding (nvdec), it's not a libretro/PPSSPP Issue.
FMV cut-scenes will be fine.

Updates
==========================================

Added JIT and JIT Vertex Decoder Support
- When loading Savestates with JIT, make sure to instantly open the RetroArch Menu again and wait for it to complete loading
- This is a libretro specific bug (not switch port related) and will be fixed later on

==========================================

-Added Vertex JIT Core option (turning it off fixes some games currently)
-Added Disable slow Framebuffer effects Core option (Speedhack)
-Increased Savestate Chunk size to 4MB (speeds up savestate load, ~2sec)
-Band-Aid for Savestate load + Save (no more opening menu for them to work)
-Renamed "IR JIT" to "IR Interpreter"
-Removed Threaded IO Core option (non-functional)
-Removed Non-Buffered Rendering Core option (non-functional)
-General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.

As anyone faced the same issue ?
Regardless of wich rom I choose, the display remains black, I get no image or sound, and the console freezes.
I'm using exfat system on my sd, if that is relevant.
Thanks

Mega Man Powered Up runs almost perfect, handheld and without OC, 1440x816, JIT

Also, Shin Budokai 2 runs almost perfect too in speed with some framedrops, but they're some stages glitches in the ground. Same, handheld, without OC and 1440x816, JIT.

nsp forwarding, thats a new thig to me.
I've checked a few videos on youtube about using ppsspp and they all opened retroarch either by instaling it as a NSP, ou on the hombrew menu, load ppsspp core, and the load the rom.

I have the same issue and I do launch RetroArch with full fam access using the above-mentioned method.

My setup is:

•Atmosphere 0.8.7
•7.0.1
•Most recent RetroArch nightly
•Holding R on NSP to accept hbmenu & full RAM
•RetroArch CPU overclocked with ‘high performance’ setting

Both Patapon 2 and Patapon 3 USA ISOs crash on startup to black screen

What am I missing guys?

Thanks!

The nightly doesn't have the newer PPSSPP cores. Get the one from the first post.
I don’t think the nightlies even have any PSP cores as this is still in beta? I did download the update one with JIT support a page back or so. Had the same issue with the one from the first page.

Perhaps the issue is with the ISOs themselves?

I’m lost

Anyone else having crashing with Assassins Creed? I've tried JITFIX, JITFINAL and VertexJIT it crashes if I use JIT only works if it I use IRJIT. But it used to work with JIT. Seems to crash when it has to access the memory stick.

Dunno, but there's not 100% compatibility yet. You can try turning off the two speedhacks in options that has fixed some games that black screen.

Managed to get Final Fantasy Type-0 (english translation) running.

It shows weird behavior not experienced with any other game tested on the emulator.

Version I got working: MD5 (final fantasy type 0 - Eng.iso) = f459116e2e78bdafd10c8ebffe46873e

Settings: Jit, 3x resolution. Leave the rest at default or with minimal changes, in this case disabling speedhacks actually crashes the game.

Game loads fine, if you start RA, then load the PSP core manually, then load the games iso (content) manually.

If you launch the game from a playlist, or the history file - the only thing that happens is, that RA crashes.

Same thing seems to be the case, if you create a game config file (usually a thing you tend to do with PPSSPP (because different games benefit from different settings)) - although I havent doublechecked.

Currently I'm running the game without a game config file, and the two settings above saved to the PPSSPP core config file.
--

The game runs fine on stock CPU speeds (GPU at 460, although maybe not needed), although, there are severe load in stutters at the beginning of scene transitions - but they really are only a minor inconvenience.

Have fun. (The intro cinematic is astonishing. Especially for a FF)
