So I bought a hacked PSP on eBay about two weeks ago. Upon first start of the SNES emulator, no issues but now every single time I try to play SNES9x or NesterJ, I get the dreaded "The game cannot be started. The data is corrupted.". I've tried converting to a 32GB memory card SD and taken the original memory card it came with out at least 10x but issue still persists. I'm all out of options at this point and still quite new to all this. I'm scared to do a "fast recovery" for fear of losing anything and I've heard it's quite difficult/tedious to reinstall the CFW, especially since I'm still new to this.

Been reading up on the issue and not seeing a lot of information or when the user does resolve, no explanation of how it was resolved. Do you guys have any suggestions?
Not sure if it's part of overall issue but wanted to point out that my N64 emulator does work and load up but is so incredibly slow it's virtually unplayable.

It's a Sony PSP 3000 running on Pro C 6.60 CFW

I am quite new to the PSP scene myself, this stays true to all consoles: Do NOT buy a pre modded console. You never know whats in there. but if I understand correctly, your original memory card it came with had 10x. 10x the memory of 32GB? It could be a faulty card.
test the both cards with H2Testw, select at least 32GB.
If the original is faulty and the other isn't, take whats in the faulty in hopes that it isn't corrupted, and put it in the not faulty. Then re-download the emulators.
If both aren't faulty then I can't help. I am new to the scene so i don't have much experience with these issues.
If both are faulty, well then get a new card. and test it too.
I am also quite confused why the N64 Emu works. It could be that it maybe didn't get corrupted by the card. BTW it is kinda slow, the PSP isn't perfect with emulation, but without sound SM64 Runs at full speed almost 95% of the time.

The card that I received work upon first firing it up. I played Final Fight on the SNES9x without any issue. That was on a 16GB card that came with the system. After playing once, that's when I started getting that error message.

I copied everything on a 32GB card but still the issue persists. It seems very common but the solution not as common as the problem. Hoping someone knows of a relatively quick, easy and painless fix

Faulty cards DO work, they show they have a lot of space but they actually have a smaller one then that. When they hit their limit, it overwrites other files in your card. Right now it's best to check your card. They also get unusable quicker. (They have a shorter life span, when it ends they "forget" things. This is with all cards but it is quicker with them)

Here is another way to maybe fix it:
Try one of those SNES9X releases https://github.com/esmjanus/snes9xTYL/blob/mecm/Release/Releases.md if you haven't already.
Try this release of NesterJ https://filetrip.net/psp-downloads/homebrew/download-nesterj-112aoex-r3-f29028.html if you haven't already.

The apps that run are 'signed', meaning they appear as official games to the PSP, and can be run without CFW. The apps that do not run are not 'signed', appearing corrupt, and need CFW to run. "Fast Recovery" is an app that activates the non-permanent (i.e. 'Lite') CFW, allowing 'unsigned' apps to run.

The N64 emu needs to have it's settings changed per game for any chance of playable speed.

compatibility list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13izCg9TYUWpF3Ot3P3wVUzAk_qpsNtsNqmydakELIUQ/edit#gid=0

your options
1. Run "Fast Recovery" after every reboot to allow the 'unsigned' apps to run.
2. Install Infinity/cIPL for permanent CFW to allow the 'unsigned' apps to run.
3. Strictly use 'signed' apps, without using CFW.

definitions
  • OFW - Official FirmWare; Not modded in any way
  • CFW - Custom FirmWare; Modded OFW with special features
  • Signing - Homebrew built to work on any PSP firmware by adding Sony's Root Signing keys to them
  • LCFW - a temporary CFW exploit that gives you all the features of a permanent CFW, but is lost whenever the PSP runs out of power
  • Fast Recovery - an app that enables temporary CFW over OFW without modifying system files; another term for this is Homebrew Enabler (HEN)
