First you need to boot to Hekate and from there make backup.
After making backup you can boot atmosphere from Hekate or load atmosphere payload directly to RCM.

I use ReiNX and would like to point out that they have a very handy well laid out guide. Might be worth looking into if you need something step by step.

https://reinx.guide/

Edit: Just saw your RCM question. The easiest method is to just buy one for a buck or two from amazon, but if you're confident in your abilities you could also use a paperclip to make the necessary connections. The guide I posted goes into more detail at the bottom of step two.

If I'm not mistaken Fusee is the vulnerability that lets us inject payloads. ReiNX and Atmosphere are "custom firmware" built to take advantage of this,
oooooooooh alrighty

so when I loaded the fusee.bin I got an atmosphere screen with a little {R} and then the switch resets and reloads, is that normal

that's the one they link to in the reinx website, but I gotta ask what's the difference between fusee and Reinex

okay

Fusee-Gelee is the name of the exploit used to get cfw and launch payloads

fusee-primary and Fusee-secondary are atmosphere payload/cfw, which the fusee-gelee exploit was originally designed for

reinx is another payload/cfw

Yes, if you used all the files from the latest release (0.8.4) if you check system version it should say something like 7.0 (AMS0.8.4)
