Hacking DSi / DS functionality doesn't work after NTRTransfer

Hello guys.

I just bought New 3DS (not XL) from Amazon Japan and CFW it. After that, I did CTRTransfer to change region to Korea with 3ds.hacks.guide site. Updated to 11.9. B9S, Luma3DS are up to date. And realized all DS/DSi functionality doesn't work.(DSiWare Settings, TwilightMenu, DS Catridge etc...). When start a DS game, screens go black and if I pushed a button, it goes home back after seconds.

So I've followed guides.
1. 3ds hacks guide troubleshooting
"DSi / DS functionality is broken after completing the guide"
-> all 5 cias installed, not working

2. Luma3DS FAQ-and-troubleshooting
"GBA/DS games/DSiWare/Smash Bros/Monster Hunter fail to start with a black screen"
-> Luma3DS reinstalled, not working

3. Re CTRTransfer
-> not working

4. device reset
-> not working

I guess When CTRTransfer, it corrupts TWL NAND files? or CTRTranfer image corrupted? I'm not sure.. I used image 11.5.0-KOR on 3ds hack guide.
I have a SYSNAND backup(JAPAN) which was made when first CFW. Can I restore that backup image from 11.9 KOR?
Or maybe find another CTRTransfer image and try again?

Edit Feb 22, 2019 - There are important files I failed to considered in the sys and tmp folders.

1. GodMode9 → [S:] SYSNAND VIRTUAL/twln.bin → Copy to 0:/gm9/out.
   • This will back up the contents of [2:] SYSNAND TWLN.
   • Do not skip backing up.
2. Go into [2:] SYSNAND TWLN, press (L) shoulder button on import, progress, shared1, sys, ticket, and title, and tmp to yellow highlight select these subfolders.
   • Do not select shared2, sys, and tmp.
3. Press (X) to delete all selected folders.
   • Do not delete shared2 as this will cause ARM9 boot error.
   • Do not delete sys as this contains TWLFontTable.dat, inspect.log, and product.log. These contain TWL hardware info and calibration.
   • Do not delete tmp as this has opera.ini, a file that for the DSi browser.
4. Reinstall the five (5) DSiWare cia files at "DSi / DS functionality is broken after completing the guide".

1. FBI → Titles → All DSiWare Title IDs in purple color → Delete Title And Ticket
2. Recovery Mode or System Setting → System Update to redownload DS Download Play, Nintendo DSi, 0004800F484E4841.
   • You may will to reinstall the missing two (2) cia.

I have discovered the issue. The older version TWL_FIRM is incompatible with 11.9 firmware.

n3DS firmware 11.9.0-42X uses 0004013820000102 v10926 (10.45.2).
The 3ds.hacks.guide provides New_3DS TWL_FIRM - v9936.cia (9.45.0).

If you have n3DSXL / n2DS / n2DSXL, go to FBI → Titles → 0004013820000102. Don't confuse it for 0004013820000202.

If yours not Version: 10962 (10.45.2), use Delete Title And Ticket. You can redownload the latest version TWL_FIRM with System Settings or Recovery Mode.

Not having progress folder is fine. It's typically blank anyhow.

i have realized after reading your forum... you might have the EXACT same problem as me... does your system also go to a ds white screen for a split second and the to a black screen and then to sleep mode while loading any ds title?

No. while loading ds title, just black screen and when I push A button, it reboots.

CTRTransfer will only repair the TWL_FIRM but may fail depending if GodMode9 doesn't catches finding it broken. There's a different kind of CTRTransfer performed by another homebrew app I would suggest, but I recently learned it has flaws not restoring several important NAND files.

There's a way to offline, force install TWL_FIRM if the System Update in Recovery Mode and System Settings aren't working.

1. Download the 3DS firmware package found at that darth site.
   • 3DS o3DS USA 11.9.0-42U - bfed7c0d4e9b9dc40c2c2f7995ec7c54
     
   • 3DS n3DS KOR 11.9.0-42K - 52bb3fcaca5e618a33159bf70d6b1760
2. Copy the TWL_FIRM *.cia file onto the SD card.
   • o3DS - 0004013800000102.cia
   • n3DS - 0004013820000102.cia
   • Do not copy the other included CIA files.
3. Install the specific TWL_FIRM title with FBI.
   • o3DS - Version: 10864 (10.39.0)
     
   • n3DS - Version: 10962 (10.45.2)
   • Do not install the other CIA files. FBI can brick the 3DS especially for System Modules - 00040130########.

Don't worry. The people at 3ds.hacks.guide will get around to it. It's the outdated TWL_FIRM that's borked with firmware 11.9.0-42X. I'm just glad the mystery's solved. Now we await if the same applies for CodyWGamer.

i tend to take awhile because of no wifi at home and have to deal with school and im using a chromebook with only a microsd card slot so thats why i havent done the steps yet... except i downloaded the files needed
