Hi guys I don't understand this arm patch thing. I managed to get it to run on Ace3ds with wood 16. Where do I find the arm file and where do i put it?
If the patch worked, don't worry about arm thing. it's useless to you.

to explain :
the game contain a "arm7.bin" file (inside the ROM) which has been patched to fix some AntiPiracy check on some flashcards.
but few flashcarts don't like this patches, and the flashcart's firmware have their own internal patches applied at game launch, conflicting with the ninokuni translation patch changes done to that arm7.bin file
If you have a flashcart doing its own patches, you want to use a "non patched arm7.bin" in your game.

so, there are different versions of the patch :
1. The original release v1.0, with the patched arm7, attempt to fix some antipiracy check. Works on some flashcarts.
2. The edited released v1.0, with the "original arm7.bin" restored into the patch, to let flashcarts do their own patches on it. Works on some other flashcarts
3. Logo patch, to apply on an already english patched ROM. modify the logo and game's title seen on your flashcart's menu, or loader's menu.
4. YSMenu patch. this one is the edited release v1.0 to work specifically with flashcarts using YSMenu 7.0.6

use the patch working for you. either 1. or 2. or 4.
if the game works, don't worry about the other patches.
the logo patch can be applied only on 1. and 2., don't do additional patches on 4.

Question for those who have successfully applied the patch; What method did you use to rip the rom from the original Japanese cart.
We downloaded the shikoku no madoushi nds file, sometimes things are simple.
Now the more generic question: I have this Rom in my hand, how do I make this into an nds file...
That stuff is answered on...

Finallllllllllllllllllllllly beat post-game. I can confidently say that this game joins my list of the top four worst post-games I have ever suffered through.
In alphabetical order:
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of The Starry Skies, Ever Oasis, Sushi Striker: Way of Sushido, Ni no Kuni: The Jet Black Mage.

I think it gets way more interesting after we beat Jabou becuase at that point we're stronger.

But the game is pretty mediocre overall, its only captivating parts are the art and animation.

Everything is fine except for Moya Tower. It's so frustratingly stupid grinding forever for synthesis materials and then spending like a million years trying to find the portal to the next floor. I swear they doubled the size of the last 10 floors. First 80 floors didn't take that long to get to the portal, but then suddenly all the maps were pointlessly huge and had six million branching paths. At least 4 times I made 100% wrong turns and the portal was the last thing I uncovered on the map that was like 8 miles long. It got to a point where if I went down a wrong turn that was too long, it was faster for me to cast escape and get a fresh mape then to run back to the starting point.

The regular dungeons are completely meaningless, just silly mazes filled with chests containing useless items and dumb enemies.

Moya Tower is still the best dungeon in the whole game. At least the enemies are more varied and the items are useful for something.
By the end of the game we also get gear that improves the drop rate dramatically and we also get good items from those battles so it's even more rewarding.

It looks like we are playing a different game. The enemies are the same for five floors in a row until you reach the next set of 5 floors. The enemies in Moya Tower only drop recovery items and synthesis materials. I think there are like 2 monsters out of the 100 floors that drops gear, and you can get it from a lower tier monster in a main game dungeon.

You can win an armor from the casino that increases rare rate and you can buy a fishing pole that does the same thing as soon as Jungle. Note that it doesn't increase drop rate at all, it just increases the likelihood that the item that drops is a rare instead of a common drop.

All the chests in Moya Tower suck. 95% of the time it's something you can buy from a vendor, is a common item from a weaker monster, or something you can easily synthesize. 4% of the time it's a gear that is only good for making more floors or something to synthesize into something better , and 1% of the time it's a consumable item for the Imagen. Sometimes you'll cast Chart Chests and the floor won't even have anything. There are a million dead ends with nothing. Some floors that are the size of 6 main game dungeons combined sometimes only have one chest.

74 hours 34 minutes.

EDIT: To people wanting to complete the tower quickly, realize that all field item spawn points are in the exact same spot and all monster team compositions are predetermined. There are resources in Japanese that map out the location of which field item spawn points contain which items, and there are also resources that tell you which monsters are in which encounters. If you need a specific drop from a monster, it's best to only attempt one steal with Jairo on the same turn you kill everything so you can quickly get more attempts to farm stuff while also getting potential item drops from the other monsters in the group. Just moving away a few steps and coming back brings the monster team you just fought and you can try again. You only want to wear the "increase drop rate item" when the item you want dropped is the rare drop. Seal of Brute Force and Seal of Revenge on Oliver so you can cast Quake for 8 MP and kill literally every single monster spawn in the game with one exception (Physical resist monsters from floors 80+ in Moya Tower). Just buy 99 refreshing coffees and never heal your HP so you can deal more damage. Jairo, Oliver, and Provoke / Decoy Guard person or just a mule with EXP/Gold boosting items or the rarity increasing items. If possible, the more sane option is to just find a cheat code with the top floor already built and just do every boss battle. Every boss dies in 2-3 turns anyway with Oliver and Decoy Guard team, so you aren't missing much if you just jump straight to the top.
The first form is super easy and you can win without taking damage past the first turn since he has a set pattern he never deviates from. The second form is playing Russian Roulette and the cheesiness of Oscar is significantly reduced since there is such a huge chance he'll get caught by a random spell and die in one hit. I think he has like 30,000 HP. Evenstar does the most damage even though it costs 64 MP. If you can land it 5 times you win

Hello again, everyone! My flashcart just came today and I have been searching everywhere for how to dump my version of Ni No Kuni (I have the actual game cart) and patch it. How would I do that? (I have an R4 trying to run the game on a new 3ds if that helps...) Thanks in advance!

Sorry to bother you again,

All I have is Homebrew, but I don't have godmode9. How would I install that? (I've seen some stuff that uses godmode9 to dump a cart, but I don't have godmode9.) Thanks again for your help!

What The Astram Language guest 33 correct answers? I couldn't find it. what the wizard on page 13 is saying. please.
On page 13 there are symbols coming out of the wizard's mouth. At the end of the book you'll find the astram alphabet to translate them. It would be easier to make a print screen or save this page as an image and open it along side the 13th page and it'll be useful later in other quests.

Hello,

here's my week report :)

spoil location : This is on third town.

Location: Bikini bay

spelling mistake 1 : First glace -> First Glance
IMG_20190210_235809_small.jpg

Spelling mistake 2 : Villian -> Villain
IMG_20190211_231420_small.jpg
This one is more technical, maybe even present in the original game.
In the cauldron recipe, it tells me I need a "Freezing spear" and have 0, but at the same time on the other line already tells me I have 1!
I verified in my item menu, and the freezing spear is equipped to an imagen. so, I have X1 but can't use it to create items. that's probably not a real bug, just the way the game works.

Could someone tell me how many "quest log" there is in the story, just to know the % I am?
I'm currently "019", I suppose there will be more than 100 because there are 3 digits.

Vicviper-V :
Maybe you could add the information about the spoil ?
[ spoiler= here your spoil info, for example like me the "story log" progress]

A spoiler tag, without spoil information is kind of useless. I had to open it to see if it's something which spoils me or not, and it is.

Thanks a lot for the patch! :D

Question: how are people finding it without the physical spells book? Can you look them up in-game like you could on the PS3 version?

There are only 045 entries in the quest log for main story. It doesn't add any extra entries for post game. There are 100 regular quests. Don't know about DLC.

Sorry, but i don't udnerstand your request. This forum section is about game translations, not story-related discussions, so it is okay that it has spoilers in every page, because technical questions that apperars in translation is in any part of the game. And my decision to hide screenshots (as i see it) it's just a regular courtesy to users that do not want to see buhch of random screens and came to that thread to discuss something or pay respect to translators.
Of course i can add some information about spoiler, but how can i know what to say? This is jrpg, i'm opened all cities (i think) and just backtracking the world and sidequesting. I don't know how far i am and how to explain it. Maybe i am near the end, maybe just in the middle. And, to be honest, i see your log and it says "Story progress 019" so how it can help to know have it spoilers for me or not? What does that number means in game that have not nubmered levels but open world?
So, really, i gladly correct my post, but please explain how. I wrote something already, maybe it is okay?
