Tutorial  Updated

Switch 7.0 Downgrade to 6.2 tutorial

Update: Since Atmosphere has released with 7.0.X support, To downgrade without a backup, just use ChoidujourNX.
For those with backups you can still follow the method below

After seeing reports of downgrading back to 6.2 been broken after updating to switch firmware version 7.0, I can confirm these to be false. I successfully downgraded my switch with 9 burnt fuses on 7.0 to 6.2 with 9 burnt fuses

Downgrading to 6.2 is possible and not broken. Both boot0/boot1 must be the same version as nand backup

  • Step 1) Place 6.2 nand + boot0/1 backup on sd card
  • Step 2) Boot into RCM and launch hekate
  • Step 3) Restore boot 0/1
  • Step 4) Restore GPP Partitions (or rawnand, I personally used GPP Partitions)
  • Step 5) Launch CFW using Hekate 4.6 or ReiNX 2.0 or sxos (haven't tested with fusee-primary)
  • Step 6) ????
  • Step 7) Profit

EDIT: This is for FG consoles not ipatched
EDIT 2: You will loose any saves you don't have backed up

Will upload proof if people desperately wish

do i enable or keep it disabled? after that any other suggestions?

I prefer enabled, especially as I don't have my jig with me all the time.

After that make sure you have a backup of everything (nand boot0/1 biskeys) if you don't already, other than that don't let it go flat

Hello I using SX OS ver 2.5.3, i want downgrade ver 7.0 to ver 6.x.x, plespl help me. I dont play anything...
I did this today same problem as you. It depends how you originally backed up your switch I think since I originally did hekate. sx os's restore didn't detect boot0 and boot1 and my other system files so I ended up trying it on hekate then restored to 5.1.0 then choidoujnourNX to 6.2.0. SX OS booted after the 6.2.0 update fixed sdXC support.

This is all assuming you have a nand backup made of your system before 7.0.0

can I recover with nad full backup of 7.0 if I do demotion by ChoiDujour method?
If you're restoring from a 7.0 full backup it's not going to boot still. They patched hekate and sx os in 7.0 you need to rcm boot and restore to a firmware that you yourself backed up that's under 7.0

Doing the right steps has no error, right?

If you read everything twice over, and follow each instruction as you go, it will be fine, but one misclick and you have a dead switch. It is better to wait for CFW especially if you aren't confident in following a long text guide

Okay, so waiting is the only option then. A new emmc won't work afaik
I have good news, I already got the biskey using the webpage sdsetup.com, I returned to read the post https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...nofficially-without-burning-any-fuses.507461/ over and over, but im badly stuck in the steps 6 and 7 because i dont undertand how i can get the keys.txt, i undertand if i have them i can create the new boot0, i have the fw but when i use the choijudour it always give me an error.
I know that this type of answers are annoying but I really appreciate your help.

Thank you in advance

choidujour (pc/downgrade method) uses firmware 6.1 at the highest, you can google for the keys as the keys needed are public

edit: Just make sure you have masterkey 06

Funny enough this is basically how I had to fix my 2ds, thing was black on boot then I found a gbatemp post that told me the only thing left todo is try a forced update to a lower system version, same risks applied because no nand backup. ALmost messed it up too but I got through every step successfully, horrible times, lol, but in the end I restored it and made a nand backup

Also make sure to make a nand backup now that it's fixed!

I am the same as you. No backup before upgraded to 7.0. I tried to follow the link that you mentioned. Successful with downgrading to 6.1 then upgraded back to 6.2. SX OS are working now without abnormal.

it power OFW in 6.2 or just the CFW ??

My brother updated his NS accidentally to 7.0
I have BOOT0/BOOT1 and rawnand.bin from his 6.2 backup (wasn't updated to 6.2 via ChoiDujor, I just did from 6.2 to 6.2 with ExFAT support) but "restore" folder is empty, is anything wrong?

I have researched a lot and I think I won't have any problems in just restoring, it seems very simple, I'm just in doubt if I have the correct files for this
Should I try to downgrade or wait a new CFW?
