I have an unpatch switch on 4.1.0 firmware. Do I need to update it to 6.2 or can I stay on this firmware and load CFW like atmosphere hekate and I’m good to go for game backups?

no, but upgrading to 6.2 with choidujourNX is recommended as it supports all current games, whereas 4.1 doesn't
