Hardware [Doubt] Can you customize the Wii's hardware?

I have one more doubt about the Wii: Is it possible to customize the Wii's hardware?

The Xbox 360 can customize your hardware, that is, change CPU, GPU, RAM or add or remove any other component in your hardware, but this could be on the Wii or on the Wii U customize your hardware.

But would there be any risk of damaging it, such as changing the hard drive to an Xbox 360 or an Xbox One?

You can't change the cpu, gpu, ram on a 360, not sure who told you that.

Not easily anyway, and not with parts that are not designed for the 360's mother board.

You can mod case, lights and fans and cooling, maybe a mod chip, but that's it, and it's the same with pretty much any console.

my cousin told me that you could customize the 360 hardware.

I doubt very much that you can add a GPS module to any console to know its geographical location and remove the regional block chip from any console with regional blocking and replace it with a region free chip to install Region Free using Hardmod.

And that's not how region encoding works. The console knows what kind of discs it's allowed to play, it's hardcoded into the firmware, and the disc tells the system what region it was made for, and if the region isn't on the systems whitelist, it get's blocked.

Sorry, tell a lie, the original xbox actually CAN have it's cpu and ram replaced by larger and faster components, but those are only available in china.

I guess that depends on your definition of "customize."


But in general, in the more traditional sense? Not really, no. As for Xboxes, yeah, can't really do core component upgrades on a 360... Did just put a 2TB drive in my Original Xbox the other day, though.

You can double the ram on the original xbox by adding more chips (you can remove them from another xbox, no need to buy from china) but it's useless for official released games. Also you can buy a second hand replacement cpu but, in both cases, soldering requires expensive equipment and appropriate knowledge so yes, if someone dosn't know what is doing is probably going to damage the console. Also with the cpu upgrade you will have issues with many games.
