I finally got around to messing about with the layouts - what a pain in the ass they are to make, anyway this was my final homescreen layout that I was happy with.
And one with spaces between the game icons:
Now I need to figure out how to change the text colour and make it go under the icons etc.

I have a question I'm making a custom theme with the Diamond layout v2, but im not seeing the transparent bar where the bottom left icons are.

the transparent bar is not part of the layout.
it is part of the image.
you must apply it yourself to the image.
Can you make some themes into the default layout?
(default button locations)
I cant see the games cause they are too small.
also can you make themes for userpage and news? (very triggering if it is black/white instead of theme)

Hi man. Im doing personal requests only after a Donation. If you dont want to donate then enjoy the themes I post. And you can always suggest a game and most of the time I will do it but with my layout because I like it better. If you donate then I will make you what ever you want.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.+1 -

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.+1 -

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme -

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
