Gaming Splatoon 2 and region locking?

Hey guys,

Id just like to know if one player that has US version of Splatoon 2 and the other player with EU version of Splatoon 2 can play together? Is it possible to play league and random matches?
I hope someone can let me know before i waste the giftcard

Yes you can do everything together, turf, league, salmon run.

You can do splatfest together too, but only if it’s a global splatfest. Sometimes Eu/jp/us have different splatfest themes, so those ones you can’t. That’s only like 24 hours a month though.

Also one more thing you can't do, you can't buy other region's Octo Expansion.
With Zelda for example you could buy US DLC for the EU version. I have EU Splatoon 2 and had leftover 20 bucks from a while ago and went "Welp, may as well buy Octo Expansion for it". It didn't work. Nintendo thankfully refunded me for it, but yeah.
