Hacking Question SX OS (Fat32/exFat): Why do I keep getting this?!

Why do I continue to get this error using SX OS?!!! Others must be having the same problem I am? I just recently switched from exFat to Fat32, because I was under the assumption this was to fix problems like this due to exFat formatted cards becoming corrupted. After doing some transferring and booting back up with the SX OS Pro, I get thrown this error and have to completely redo everything I just did! I have my license and my boot.dat on the root of the card like always, yet I still get this damn thing. Any ideas?

Are you sure you have a legit SD card? Lots of fakes out there.

This is a weird issue, and I'm not sure if it is SX specific, but I had this exact same problem. It turned out it was due to the SD being GPT format, not MBR. I fixed this by converting the disk to MBR with the program "MiniTool Partition Wizard", the free version is fine. I'm sure there is a native way to do this with windows and mac, but I just found this easier since I already use the software anyway.

If your SD shows up, and says GPT here instead of MBR, maybe try converting it? It's also worth noting that this will very likely wipe the sd. Make backups.

I also had this happen sometimes. I think it means the system can't find the boot.dat on the sd card.

Yes, it is a legitimate SD card, high-end Class10.

Didn't think it would happen immediately after switching to Fat32 as well, so something else is definitely going on. The problem is, after you get this error you can't even plug your SD card back into your PC because as soon as you do, your PC asks you to format the card so you basically lose everything anyways.

I would think the switch would either read or not read a gpt partition table, I was unaware that it had some sort of buggy drivers for gpt, that give it sporadic reads. Are you absolutely sure the card is legit? It sounds like it's being filled beyond the true capacity of the SD, and not the reported capacity.

How would I know if it is legit or not? I mean it's worked before with games and everything. It was bought at a Wal-Mart. It is SanDisk.

If it was bought at Wal-Mart I would have to assume it's legit. What are you using to install games, or are you even getting to that point?

The card has worked before. Before I formatted from exFat to Fat32 I had everything backed up. I transferred everything (except any XCI or NSPs) back to the newly formatted Fat32 card and tested it. Booted fine. Then I went ahead and split a couple XCI games, because I couldn't get the full size on the Fat32 obviously now. Put those on the card and they also worked fine. Then finally just went ahead and split the rest of the XCI games I had and put them on the card.......went to boot up and then got the error about BOOT.DAT not being found (when it obviously was on the card).
