Homebrew Question External Hard Drive For SX OS

it still seems like sxos is just choosing to not work on random drives. I have 3 ex hdd and 3 usb sticks and only 1 stick would work. sxos acts as if all other drives dont even exist. its just rediculous. No one has a clue why this is apparently, all they say is did you format it correctly. lol. i know people are only trying to help. i gave up. i ll just store my games on large drives and transfer to 1 64 gb stick that actually works. maybe someone smart will figure it out eventually.

An xci I'm trying to play from my HDD is making me crash
How can I identify which one is it?
All of them open fine on XCIexplorer

Like me transfer the games one by one and tested
Or ten by ten and do the test, until the crash occurs.
I was a game not completely finished downloading ( naruto) on 140 games it was him the culprit.

Just for your Information guys, i bought today a big Fat 20 Terra WD, yes 20 Terrabyte not 2 and the sxos is working with the full 20 Terrabyte HDD in exfat lol wtf this HDD was of course for other things ^^... but yeah its working

With this baby you have enough Space for the next 10 years of incoming Games for the Switch :p

But i dont understand why this one is working and other old HDD over 2 Terrabyte dont working... very strange, some kompatibilitätsproblem or something like that.

Must be something like that, I have a 5 Tb WD that don't work. But my seagate 8 TB work like a charm

Maybe it's about how adapter works. Maybe SX OS supports only "Storage usb device" detected like pendrive, but some adapters are recognized as classic HDD.

For anyone having the scanning loop problem with their HDD, I recommend 2.5 HDDs. Tried 2 different 3.5 with exfat and had no luck at all.

Now I'm using a 2.5 HDD and it works like a charm.

I just bought the SX Pro
I dont understand a little detail
The game can be put directly from your PC to the External Hard drive, then connnect the drive to the USB port on the Switch dock and play?
Or should me like WiiU: PC > SD > Installer > WiiU External hard drive ?

Also you really need a 2.5 not a 3.0, it’s risky using a 3.0 you might burn the port. You will also have to partition your hdd of to 2tb

Do you have any source about this ?

And someone have a good affordable hard drive buyed on Amazon.ca (1-2TB) ?

Possible to use hard drives without sx os?

No - currently SX OS is the only way to play games from an external drive.

Format your external drive as exfat, copy the XCI to the external hard drive, plug in the external hard drive into USB of switch and done!

Can some tell me does ssd work with external dock? 1TB drive? Also can I install nsp files to hard drive?
If I cant install nsp to hard drive then how to I conecvert all dll and nsp file in to xci file that is all in one?
Can some help me?

Be sure you used separately powered USB drive. Not different between used 2.5/3.5", but you must always used external power for this disk. You can used powered USB Hub.

Some usb drive used high power and usb port at switch cant juice this hdd.
