I've been thinking about removing DIOS MIOS, since Nintendont works better and is way more convenient.

But, apparently I need to use NUSD to download the original mios file. It's been a while since Nintendo has stopped online services for the Wii. Will this even work?

Will NUSD brick my Wii with a corrupted file?
Would there even be an advantage for me to remove dios mios in the first place?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I think you can still get system files from NUSD unless I'm mistaken. You should even be able to use ModMii to grab just the mios real quick. The only advantage to restoring it is if you have original GameCube discs you still want to play/dump.

The MIOS slot is used to read gamecube discs in gamecube mode.
if you don't intend to use the gamecube more of the Wii, or don't intend to play official gamecube disc from the disc channel, keep it and don't bother replacing your slot with MIOS v10.

If you really want to replace it : NUS is not closed ! that's misinformation.
Nintendo closed the ability to buy points, but purchase is still possible, and NUS still online until 2019.
We don't know if the system update files will still be online, or if they will close only the eShop application, but it's not a problem either because all system files (IOS, BC, MIOS) are located in game's update partition and can be extracted with WiixPlorer or any dumping tool (cleanrip + wiiscrubber for example).

there are many ways to get that MIOS wad file,
if you can use modmii it means NUS is still online (it's where Modmii get the files).
you can use NUSD, which will generate a fake signed MIOS, but it works on Wii. (fakesign doesn't on vWii)
you can also use cMIOS installer, which has the option to install the latest official version. (or is it v8 instead of v10?)
you can also dump it from another console, using bluedumpMod without fake signing.
dump from a wii disc update partition
Or even find it on illegal sharing websites

Again, if you don't have a problem, don't fix it.

Oh good, so the option is still there.
I owna GameCube so I really don't need to have the original Mios file, I just wanted to double check that I can still get those files and "fix" it.

I probably should grab those system files, still. Which way would you say is the most efficient, out of the ways you provided?

Hi DelRio1991,

if everythings working fine just leave dios mios where it is - like you said, it doesnt really matter whats in the mios slot as nintendont doesnt need it

Fixing what wasn't broken was how I bricked my first wii.

they are all about as easy.

modmii is easy, you need to find the menu to get the MIOS and it will generate the wad. but for windows only, pseudo GUI in console mode.
NUSD is second in my opinion, but you need the wii common key to generate the wad. windows only too, very easy and has a nice GUI.
both are not generating a proper wad, but works fine.
if you really want a good signed wad, you can use WiiXplorer and insert a Wii game. explore the partition update on the disc, and you'll find the MIOS v10 wad file here (if your game is not too old). advantage is it's a good wad, and you don't need windows.

then, you use a WAD manager (not Waninkoko wad manager v1.7 or it will fake sign it! use MMM or YAWMM)
