Ok so have the SX Pro and have CFW running on my switch. I recently tried to play Dark Souls but the game would not launch because my machine needed to be updated.

Is there a safe way to update my switch so that I can play?

Thanks

Yeah look around online and find the 6.0.1 firmware and use ChoiDujourNX to install. I just had to do the same thing a couple days ago.

Edit: ChoiDujourNX will enable autorcm on your Switch by default to prevent burnt fuses. If you don't want autorcm and don't care about burning fuses just make sure to uncheck the option in ChoiDujourNX. Also there's step by step videos on youtube showing the whole process.

Is there ever a situation where autoRCM would fail and it may boot with oem bootloader / burn fuses ?

Ie. Crash, dead battery, etc

I don't think autorcm will ever fail unless you manually disable it or update your Switch firmware using nintendo servers. I've had it enabled since mid july and never had an issue.

Thank you both !!!

And if using atmosphere or ReiNX use the NOGC patch so you can roll back the FW if needed at a later date & retain Game Cart Usage !

Does ChoiDujourNX also automatically enable the kip1patch required to disable the GC reader?
Yes.

Q: I've never run firmware 4.0.0 or higher on my switch, so my gamecard controller firmware is still not updated. How do i make sure my gamecard controller works after i downgrade back to < 4.0.0 ?
A: When flashing the firmware image for any 4.0.0 or later firmware, ChoiDujourNX will generate a protective hekate_ipl.ini on your microsd, with a "PreventGCUpdate" launch target. You must ALWAYS boot using this launch target (or add kip1patch=nogc to any launch target you wish to use in the future) and use a Hekate that supports the kip1patch option (releases here do: https://github.com/rajkosto/hekate/releases) if you want to prevent use and updating of your GC controller firmware on firmware versions 4.0.0 and up.

I made a video of me doing this on Sxos if you want something visual.

Ok now I have another problem. Choidujer won't launch. The screen flashes and then.... nothing. Then I'm forced to reboot my switch.

Has this happened to anyone?

Thanks, that is how I am updating so anything to do if im currently in autorcm or good to go?
If you're updating from a firmware <4.x.x, then you'll want to read up and make sure you enable the nogc patches. Otherwise you just download the update from that darth site (or any other site), put it on SD card, load up ChoiDujourNX, and install. Your AutoRCM won't be affected.

What CFW are you using? If you're using SX OS, then you will need a version of 2.0 or higher (it worked on V2.0.1 last time I checked).

I'm probably asking too much, but is there any chance in the future to have ChoiDujourNX disabling the burning fuses function when installing firmware?
