Don't update. 0.7 is underwhelming and doesn't introduce anything new. It's also more of a hassle to set up.

EDIT: I thought you meant update Atmosphere. Sorry, ignore this.

I always prefered software solutions...more « elegant « to my point of view... but sometimes only hardware solutions are possible (my Fat Xbox360 Jtag...)

I’m on 4.0.1 (updated 5.1 with ChoiDujourNX) and will stay IF...
me too. cbhc and b9s rule.
but where switch is concerned i’m 99% happy jigging it now and again and loading my sx os
sleep mode works good
would still like that 1% covered for when the hard reboot due to a crash is needed and getta get jiggy again
not complaining though
having loads of fun with retroarch etc
massive respect to @m4xw love the guy (and others) for what he’s done

Tether-less cold boot is the holy grail, it has been said that a true cold-boot is possible up to 3.0.2 but might not happen. Several times. By BIG devs. Just sayin.

My real point was gonna be that Sleep mode is not cold boot :P I never got there. Happens.. Distracted.

Back to the topic! What firmware is the highest without losing functionality hacks wise? I am currently 3.0.1. I was told a couple weeks ago by some well established devs not to go past 3.0.2. People say not to update. My thing is IF I update with Choi/ Auto RCM ill burn that GC fuse. Or get stuck on free CFW with the slow NoGC patch. Is the NOGC patch still SLOWWW? I like SX OS enough, XCI is way better IMHO. What you guys think? Maybe SX will steal the NOGC or better yet someone will release EmuNAND and XCI loading for Atmosphere. I would be so happy.

When you say the NOGC patch is slow .. can you elaborate ? Boot time ? Laggy system ? Etc

I’m about to jump in & unforunately it’s near impossible to get SX OS in Canada, so I’m going to be going atmosphere I think.

NoGC made the whole system slow for me. Other people too. Let me know what happens with you. Maybe it's better now.

http://www.modchipsdirect.com/xecuter-sx-pro.html ships to canada..

:( up to 21 days to ship 3 hours drive across the border :(

+$15
+ brokerage & duties

Might need to just ship one to my fam down there and go for a visit lol !!

That sucks if NOGC slows the whole system down, do you have a link where I can read up on it by any chance ?

I may try it and if I get a bunch of lag have to switch to your route I think

While it was true that the nogc slowed down load times, it has been since fixed and the load times are much less noticeable now. I think they're still long if you leave a cartridge in the slot while the nogc patch is active though.

Amazing !! Thanks Drax !!

I’m back on for the mod/ fw !!

All my parts to do the reed switch joycon mod are here, hopefully complete tomorrow !

Why? .NSP is practically the same thing
Yup,
Either XCI or NSP is good enough for me if I ever use them at all.

Since I will lose GC functionality (and all my games are hard copies at the moment I guess I’ll need to convert them from a GC to a NSP but no big deal.

Not to mention that updates and DLC will ALWAYS come as .NSP so even if your base game is a .XCI, you'l still need .NSP if you want the updates and/or DLC

Coldboot already exists, it's just that we don't have a tetherless coldboot exploit. If you mean that, I would stay on 4.1.0.
Coldboot by definition is the ability to run your own code at boot, it doesn't mean automatically at boot.

Cold-boot means from completely powered off. It really doesn't reflect when code is run. It does usually infer that you press power and it boots up. Usually. Auto RCM doesn't power off and is a powered on state technically. And it needs a bit of dicking around. You put the console in to RCM, powering it on, and THEN run the CFW(cOS) its a luke warm boot IMHO. Internal mod would be better.

I like SX OS so far. XCI files are way more convenient and HDD is the shit.. I'll more than likely wind up on Atmo once its full featured and the EmuNAND pops. but till then I am good I thnk.
