My switch was working fine, I pressed restart on accident instead of power off, but when I plugged it into the usb C cable and used tegrasmash to launch the SX OS payload. it says its smashing the stack but the switch doesnt turn on.

So I have no idea what to do, I tried to reinstall the drivers but that didnt seem to help.

any thoughts on what to do?

It's possible that the battery has depleted as well. May need to sit on the charger, THEN do the 12sec power hold, so that the tegra's emergency charging logic engages enough to power on the switch later. (like, 3 hours later.)

OP restarted and ended up in this state. It's the expected behavior of AutoRCM. You always have to hard power off and press the power button to turn back on after shutting down or restarting from horizon.

Its always on the charging dock. it shouldnt be depleted though.

It's not. Read above.

I wouldn't bother. Unless you were low battery when you rebooted and didn't get back to it for a while.

It's likely a physical problem. Check your type C port on the Switch, try a different cable, try a different USB port.

Dumb question, but I have to ask. Did you try restarting Windows?

Yea, that didnt work either. when i try without the sd card it gives the "boot.dat?" screen. so maybe theres an issue with the sd card somewhere?
