Hacking What 's the switch keys role in restoring backup?

Hello everyone, I was wondering what am I supposed to do with the switch keys when I restore backup? I made a backup with hekate of my clean ofmw 4.10 following a tutorial, I don't remember anybody mentioned this keys in that Tuto.. so, they are needed for... ? Thank you all

You don't need them to restore the backup, you need them only if you want to extract the backup.

Ok,thank you for your reply but.. what does it mean "extract a backup" ? Could you please make an example? Sorry, didn't want to bother you with all this question but I really don't know its meaning. Thanks again for your time and patience with my noob knowledge :)

The Backup is a "container" containing the Files contained in your Switch.
The contents of the container are encrypted with the keys.
If you want to extract informations from your eMMC dump (it is not NAND - but thats not important tbh) you have to decrypt those files with the keys from the switch.

This makes it possible to extract your savefiles for example.
