Everything is installed right and in teh right folders (these games an HDD work just fine on my normal ii) Ive tried USB Loader GX and it says the drive isnt initialized (even though Its fat 32). I tried Wiiflow and it cant find games at all. I saw something on another topic that said change USB loader GX to IOS 58 I did and it still doesnt work. I know the Y cable Im using is compatible (even if its not the same kind liste on the guide because) if I plus in just one cord the USB drive doesnt power. plugging in both cord DOES make it power. Also depenidng on what slots I put the USB cords in either USB loader wont see the drive at all, or it seeing it just fine and boots the launcher but says its not initialized. So i know the USB cable Y im using is compatible and in the right slot sto function (i.e the powered cable is in the top port.

Sooo what do I do?

Would you be so kind as to educate me or link me to what this inject tool you speak of is? After all I got my wiiu hacked and running usb games and homebrew just fine. Just need my vwii to do it now too and I can get rid of my original wii

If you haven't already tried plug the hdd in the back two ports, try it both ways (with one cord on top then switch). Not initialized means it's not reading the hard drive, so if that don't work you could have a defective hard drive.

Do you have any other external hard drives you can try?

no yeah i used my thumb rive that works just fine loading games n USB loader GX on my normal Wii... put in in the Wii U on VWii usb loader GX and it still says not initialized. Also I had to use the Y cable for a thumb drive too. Ummmm they cant even power a mere thumb drive with one port?

I don't know the answer. It's either your y cable or a problem with USB Loader GX.

You're using the back two ports right? Wii requires the top port on the back side. If you've tried every combo of that again it has to be either your y cable isn't working or USB Loader GX not working. You could try a different version of USB Loader GX or CFG USB Loader if it does the same thing it's probably your y cable.

Just throwing this out there.

In vWii mode, the WiiU can be picky at times as to what USB HDD drive is connected, even if it works fine on the PC or in WiiU mode. From MY experience and with some little info floating around regarding this rare issue, this is mostly due to the USB to HDD controller used inside the HDD enclosure, vWii mode can't recognise it.
Even if you inject Wii games and install to the same USB HDD, you will most likely still going to have the same issues because the WiiU still needs to boot into vWii mode to load the Wii inject game, resulting in the USB HDD not being recognised.
Most of the time it should work but you will have some rare cases where the drive wont work, as to which one works? no way to tell, you have to get lucky.

then in that case someone should have a list of known compatible vWii drives like the huge list everyone had with drives tested on the original Wii cause if my drive is compatible that would be much easier that trying to fix something I cant fix lol. As for different usb loader GX Im using the latest version and Im also trying Wiifow with no luck. that being said would configurable USB loader really be any different?

Well that's all I know to tell you, good luck.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Although as for me I used two hdds one for Wii U one for vWii but then I started injecting my Wii/Gamecube games so I can have them all on the Wii U Menu and on one hdd. If you have the space on your Wii U hard drive you could do that but it's time consuming. Then you don't have to load anything like USB Loader you can just boot the Wii game directly off your Wii U menu.

well i have like 40 wii games it would take forever to inject all that also I heard the injector is limited on what it can do.. i.e i cant play wii games that require nunchuk and wiimote (like zelda skyward sword) or what about game where I wanna use the classic controler pro (not just classic controller)

Also i just ran a test I put my external into the Y cable and turned on the normal Wii U menu and it asked me to format.. does that mean my drive and cable are both compatible if the Wii U can see it?

That's absolutely false, you can play games that require nunchuk and wiimote, and classic controller pro support is built it. But anyway you don't have to just thought I'd mention it.

As for the y cable I think being compatible with Wii U and being compatible with vWii are two different things. But not 100% sure about that.

I'd state your problem in the USB Loader GX thread.

I generally tend to just use those stubby USB sticks. "Nano-sized" I think they're called... They work great, and don't stick out. Also, no power issues like harddrives seem to have.

Btw that injector link doesnt really have a tutorial or tell me HOW to do it.
issues with drives not initializing are usually due to the drive not getting enough power. Does your drive have it's own source or is it a portable drive? If it's a portable drive you need a y-cable for supplementary power. Also if you already have this setup instead of plugin both usb plugs into the wiiu, try pluggin the data cable into the top back slot of the wiiu and the supplementary power cable into an external power source such as a computer usb port or even a wall usb power adapter. I had to do this for my setup with 2 different brands of portable HDD's
