See, things like this scare me a lot . With my luck and lack of knowledge I probably end uo bricking+superbaning my console within a week. Superban means no updates, but maybe could still update with Choidujour?

Yep, you can still update via Choidujour

ChoiDujourNX does almost everything for you... However I'm at 3.02 and I still havent hacked my console yet, I'm going to wait for Atmosphere because I might get coldboot soon as 3.02 uses the same e-fuse as 3.01 making it not 4.1.0 like anymore because a user named GBCTEMP told me the info and I checked later and 3.02 indeed uses the same e-fuse as 3.01, meaning that I should be able to go back to 3.01 which is still known to have a coldboot exploit...

You can update with ChoiDujourNX without burning the e-fuses and made everything much more simpler from what I read there. However I still don't want to use Auto-RCM crap, so I don't mind waiting for atmosphere where I could stay 4 ever in any FW I want and inside the emunand have it on the latest or any FW I want too without any hassle of having to use auto-RCM and any crap to update without burning the e-fuse, emunand should allow to update with that disabled already or might just need some tweak to do it, or even some kind of offline updater, I have no idea...

You can however is wait for TX upcoming device which is cheaper and doesnt bring the SX OS, but it makes things hassle free as it brings the dongle and the nice quality jig so you can use it to boot any other CFW, however if you don't mind paying more, you can just simply buy the current TX Pro which coems with everything, but you can't still update normally from the nintendo server or the e-fuses will be burned (However on 4.1, you can probably play most games out there even without updating)...

Soa ccording to this, I should update to 5.1 BEFORE getting into installing NSP /playing XCIs right?
Not necessarily. You can update through OFW first and burn fuses. Certainly the easiest route. Or you can set up CFW and then use ChoiDujourNX to update to 5.1 without burning fuses. Extremly simple except for getting the 5.1 update files, though they are usually available at the same places nsp/xci game files are located.

If you update normally from OFW is only if you dont mind using a jig\mod and send a payload 4 ever (unless they find and leak a new exploit, which nothing is known as of now above 4.1 ;)).

With 4.1 you still have the chance to get the warmboot so I would never update normally, if you are really dying to update to latest FW, I would use ChoiDujourNX and use the Auto-RCM.

But I my self like I said prefer waiting 4 emunand and in my case I might be able to get coldboot going from 3.02 to 3.01...

This would require perma Autorcm, right?

Correct but AutoRCM is manageable if you use sleep mode or ensure that you power down the console in RCM, not Horizon (aka the OS of the Switch)
There is a catch 22 in that regard. I cant make a full CLEAR nand backup without exfat update and I can't get exfat update without UPDATING to 5.1 thought homebrew. So that nand wont be legit/clear.

You can totally make a clean NAND backup without the exFAT update. You would just need to reinstall the exFAT update after restoring your NAND which is relatively easy to do once you've done it once.

Isnt the NAND backup like 30 GBs, so exfat needed?

To backup the NAND, we use a payload called Hekate. Hekate is loaded outside of Horizon so it doesn't matter whether Horizon supports exFAT or not, it only matters if Hekate supports exFAT or not and it does. Therefore, you can dump the NAND with an exFAT formatted SD card regardless if your console supports exFAT or not.

Thanks, finally got it. See guys , I'm gonna order the sx pro because of things like that, I'm a bit slow above the shoulders.

Probably gonna get scammed buying it, calling it now.

I made a nand backup on a 64GB ExFat with the switch straight out of the box on 4.1. The Switch does not have ExFat out of the box on 4.1 BUT Hakate does and that is what makes the backup, you are not running in Horizon at that point, so it goes something like this.

-RCM
-inject payload
-make backups in Hakate
-preserve your backups on PC, Cloud, Safe Deposit Box, Grandma’s House.
-format your SD as fat32, copy starter pack files back on, plus 5.1 update files
-rcm, inject, launch CFW, launch HB menu
-run ChoiDujourNX, update to 5.1 with ExFat support, autoRCM automatically enabled.
-shut down, format sd card as ExFat on PC, copy starter pack files back on SD
-insert SD card, rcm, inject payload, launch CFW
-start installing NSPs with Tinfoil
-???
-Profit
