The only way you could freely go online again from a hacked Switch state is to restore a backup NAND from the stock firmware. It will wipe everything anew and revert to the original stock setting.

Can you elaborate on this please? The reason i bought the sx was so i can play online with legit bought games.

Try to launch cfw. Start hekate, select cfw in menu and all I get is horizon every time. R+Album has no effect.

My card is ntfs. Does the switch support ntfs without exfat update? Which filesystem does it support without exfat update? I want to start Choidojur to get exfat, but without hbmenu I can't start it....

the belief is that as soon as sx touches your switch, the next time you go online, nintendo will know about the sx. so again the belief is that the best way to avoid this is before you do anything, make a backup of your switch, then do whatever you want to do with the sx. then when you want to go back online, reformat your switch and restore the backup you originally made of your switch. but again it's all speculation.

You're missing the point of SX OS. It's mostly the system of choice by pirates than legit users such as yourself. You had best stuck with the stock firmware if you intend to play online.

I want to be able to play some games online (and i dont mind paying for them).

But then there are some single-player/offline games which i'd rather try before i pay, or never pay for.

Have there been any reports of any consoles getting banned EVEN if they revert to stock NAND?

You cannot have the best of both worlds. You would have to choose.

None that I'm aware of. That's the only proven method of going back to stock firmware and thus not get banned by Ninty.

Yes, it works that way, apparently. But in the random chance that the Android's formatting of the SD Card produced a bad volume in it, just reformat the SD Card with the PC.

From my experience it does not work this way at all. The OS needs an ExFAT update to read the sd card. The tools such as Hakate can already read the ExFat formatted card becuase they have ExFat support built in but once you launch CFW the problems start.

The easiest way to get ExFat support is to use ChoiDujourNX. Format the sd as Fat32, use ChoiDujourNX to install ExFat support then copy the files off the sd card, format as ExFat with your favorite method then copy the files back to the sd and then go about your business. There is no need to upgrade the version of firmware if you choose not to, using the same version is acceptable.

That's odd. The same Sandisk Ultra 128Gb micro-SDXC I'm using with my Switch right now went exactly through that route when the device I'm using was still on stock firmware 4.1.0. But I must admit that I had to reformat the same storage medium again using the PC since having gotten the "bad volume" issue with it. I never had a problem with it since.

If your 128GB sd card is formatted as ExFat and working then somehow your switch has ExFat support. See this recent post by Rajkosto.

I forgot to mention that I did, at some point, updated to firmware 5.1.0. I guess that must had been the clearing point and why I'm not having issue with the process.

I have BOTW xci on my sdcard (SXOS) working fine. I want to install NSP updates & DLC's.

Is it ok to use NSP update/DLC if running the game from an XCI?

Or should I install game from NSP to sdcard? (and will that mean I will lose save date)?

Save data is stored on the console. Installing NSP files on the SD card or NAND don't make a difference in effectiveness, but if you install it on the SD card, the updates/DLC will only work when the SD card is inserted. Also bear in mind that wherever you're installing still requires double the size of the NSP.

Is it possible to make installations of backup ROMs on both NAND and SD Storage on a single device? I think I got a licensing issue regarding my ROM installations in NAND whereas those installed in SD Storage are working just fine.

Never seen anyone install in BOTH places but logically speaking, the packed .NCA files would be placed on both the SD card and in the NAND/eMMC which would be kind of redundant. I'm not even sure which location the console will prioritize when it tries to launch the game when the SD card is inserted. I'd at least recommend uninstalling from wherever it was installed first via Data Management before you install it into the other location.

I also had that notion until the idea came to me to try to have it on both SD Storage and NAND. Apparently, it did not work.

I have a Switch (XAW1007) with firmware 4.1.0, but I had not been reading any news about the Switch before getting one, and there seem to be a lot of things around right now for it (ReiNX, Atmosphere, Homebrew Launcher, Fusee Gelee, Hekate, etc.), so I have no idea where to start, and I do not want to install things that are obsolete or are likely to break the Switch.

Would custom firmware be okay to try to install right now, or will it make installing newer things more difficult?
If it is okay to install custom firmware right now, is there an up-to-date guide for installing custom firmware and other things?
