Vestaria Saga to come to Steam next year, is made by the Fire Emblem series creator

IMG_0354.JPG

Shouzo Kaga, the director of the upcoming Vestaria Saga, is known for creating one of Nintendo's beloved franchises: Fire Emblem. He worked on the first five games of the series, before going on to develop the very similar TearRing Saga for the PlayStation. Now, he's back once more to create another SRPG; the aforementioned Vestaria Saga. The game was announced for Japan over three years ago, and now, it appears that it'll be seeing a western release on PC. A playable demo will also be available later today, on Steam.

Vestaria Saga tells the story of international conflict between a powerful empire, and a small coastal kingdom. When an imperial ship is set ablaze near the port of Meleda, it sparks a cascade of events that thrusts young warrior Zadrian into a war for the soul and future of his kingdom. On the run from a vicious imperial force and short on allies, Zade and his small band of knights must make difficult decisions to ensure that Meleda's princess, and the very future of its lineage, remain intact.

However, not everything is as it seems, and forces in the dark corners of the continent conspire. The stage is set, and the pieces have begun to move.
Gameplay
Vestaria Saga is a classically styled Strategy RPG, where positioning, movement, and even weaponry, are paramount to success. Move your heavily armed units around a classic styled grid-based map and engage pirates, rebels, monsters, imperial soldiers, and anyone else that stands in your way.
Features
  • An enthralling campaign of espionage, international intrigue, and war written by veterans of the genre.
  • Classically Styled Strategy RPG gameplay on a grid-based map.
  • Two finely tuned difficulty modes to accommodate both strategy veterans and newcomers.
  • A full English script translated from the original Japanese by the best in the business.
  • Full support for both USB controllers and keyboard & mouse.

Thracia 777 right here, guys! Really looking forward to this, FE4 and FE5 were really something how creatively they used gameplay elements to tell the story, not to mention the classic Kaga difficulty.

Dang, this is practically Fire Emblem for PCs. Don't get me wrong, it looks really cool, but I didn't think Kaga would try something like this again after the whole incident with Nintendo involving Tear Ring Saga.

Yeah, just like FE7x.

Also the Japanese version is free to download on its official website: http://site.wepage.com/vestariasaga
I hadn't heard of that fan game until now. Judging from the gameplay, it seems really well made. I'll have to check it out once I beat FE6.

I will admit, however, having a prequel like FE7 to FE7 is probably going to make a lot of things harsher in hindsight, as if Elibe wasn't bad enough about that.

I wish it wasn't looking like RPGmaker game. I think it was poor decision to leave Intelligent System. Maybe series would not have it's huge downtime with him still on board.

This looks super low quality and like a fangame made in rpgmaker by a highschool student.
I absolutely love every fire emblem, but I have no interest in this at all.

Wow... Wasn't really expecting it to look exactly SNES era quality. So does this game retain more of a classic FE difficulty rather than what we have seen lately, at least with the normal modes on 3DS?

It was made with SRPG Studio, so nearly the same as RPG Maker.

It has two difficulty levels. I'm not sure how closely the normal difficulty relates to the classic games, but I would guess it's pretty close.
It also has a different kind of difficulty...

I am refreshing Steam once and again and the demo doesn't show up.
There's a page for the game on the library with a 2019 ETA, but no demo.
Damn... was Germany left out again?

Nah, I just don't think the demo is online for anybody. It's a shame, I am somewhat excited for this. The demo should tell me whether I'm right to be lol
