Hey all,

I would like to use ftpd, while not revealing my console to the internet...

Is it possible? if I set a made up DNS, it fails the network check and doesn't connect at all...

You need to provde a webservice with a custom dns to return a request file which the switch tries to retrieve, when you connect it to a network. If the website is not reachable, the switch won't accept the network connection.

Couldn't understand what you meant by that.. both devices = computer and switch? the switch will still make a network test before connecting to it...
Aha, I see what the problem is now...

Hm. Is there a particular reason you don't want your console to connect to WiFi AT ALL? Because there are DNSs that will block it from updating while still allowing it to connect, if that's your concern

Doing my best to avoid a ban for using sxpro. could you point me to such DNSs?

before you connect to the wifi router you can setup custom DNS servers, so set some bad ones and your switch will not do anything unexpected.

Well, I was lead to believe that we don't really know WHAT causes nintendo to ban consoles, and I didn't connect online since then, so I'm playing it safe, no harm in that :)
yes but im saying there is really no reason to stay unbanned seeing you are pretty much confirmed to get banned the second you go online

He's probably referring to ctest.cdn.nintendo.net.
If the Switch fails to connect to that, it will not allow you to connect to wifi/go online at all.

For example, if you're using something like pihole (which I really recommend using if you can), you can block nintendo.com and nintendo.net as wildcards, then just whitelist ctest.cdn.nintendo.net. That way, your Switch will check if it can connect to ctest and it'll succeed, allowing you to connect to your wifi. But since you're blocking everything else, it'll essentially be "lan only".

What kind of router do you have? Does it support DDWRT or Tomato? You can block all internet access for a specified MAC, which would only allow it to be on LAN and not exit out. I do this for all my hacked devices (3DS, Switch, PS4 etc...).

For Tomato you can look at my guide for PS4 (scroll down to Step 6 it shows how to do it) - https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-h...o-router-will-work-with-ddwrt-as-well.500314/

None of those, I'm afraid...

Whats your router? Its hard to find one that doesnt support DDWRT lol. And you should be using DDWRT for simple reasons like security.
