So, a few months ago, I bought a used switch. Did not boot up. Always shows an error "could not start the software". Joycons sync, and you can here the clicking.

I went into recovery and can connect to wifi and updated to 5.0.1 and same result.

Once SX OS came out I thought "maybe this will replace the OS and it'll work". But since it is not a full OS, it didn't. I can enter rcm mode and load the sx payload and load the menu screen. But if I load the original OS or custom one, I get the same "could not start the software error"

Other than asking for my money back, any ideas? Is there any full CFW that replaces horizon? Possible to boot OS from the SD card?

There's nothing like that yet. You may try to do a nand dump and then see if there is somehow a way to take a donor nand and replace the console specific info and then reflash. I don't know if that's possible or not but I don't know why not.

Not possible atm. Maybe in a long while we will have something like ctr transfer.

What happens if you press that "OK"? The error just pops up again?

SXOS and all CFW's available right now do not fully replace the OS, they only patch the existing one.

And with that, i am sure that there's a fix for this. Try following this guide to see if you're lucky. https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...nofficially-without-burning-any-fuses.507461/
When I click the ok the console restarts and then the error pops up again. When I turn it on I get the Nintendo logo, then the switch logo, then the error.

I'll try that and let you know how it goes. Thanks!

If you follow the guide correctly, you should end up with a "new" 5.0.1 working firmware.
If it doesn't work, then i have no idea. Could be something hardware related. (unlikely?)

Just read the guide. Seems pretty complicated. I'll give it a try. Worst case scenario, it still doesn't work.
