I have a EUR wii, and i played a lot in the pal version of the game way back, and i wanted to continue my save but with the 480p component video support since i got the cable...

i am running the game trough nintendont, tried to force 480p mode ON, the game starts with no picture then the screen of the 60hz\50hz skips and the video goes back to the choosen mode (480i or 576i)...

I have very similar problem right now. I Wanted to play sunshine from gc disc through the Wii2HDMI adapter. But I noted that GC games don't work with it. Here is an example picture of a game chosen to 50Hz ibb.co/hNqexT. On 60 Hz display doesn't show.

You could play the NTSC-U version, there might be a way to get your save working with it.
Seems like it is possible to force 480p on the PAL version with Swiss ( https://www.speedrun.com/sms/guide/sfoz2 ), but that probably won't work inside Nintendont. Maybe @FIX94 can look into this, if it works in Swiss then it should be possible to get working in Nintendont as well.

I second everything that says @The Real Jdbye. I have played the PAL version with both Swiss (480P) and Nintendont (480i). And I must say that, beyond that it looks more clear in progressive with Swiss, I prefer to play it in Nintendont for two reasons: 1) I can use my Wii U Pro Controller, and 2) by forcing the game with the Widescreen hack in Swiss, the HUD interface of the game remains as "centered" in 4:3 aspect ratio, while the gameplay itself fills the entire screen in 16:9.

If you really need progressive and English-Only language is not a problem for you, then play the NTSC-U version of the game with Nintendont. You can convert your previous gamesave from PAL to NTSC using what was said in this old thread (especially in the last post):

Converting (E) Gamecube memory card files to (U)?

EDIT: You will also obviously need a way to convert the gamesaves between the GCI and Nintendont formats (I suggest using Dolphin emulator for this).

I thought the 50/60Hz screen also set the game in 480p when selecting 60Hz.
I don't remember if it worked fine, but I guess USBloaderGX and nintendont are both editing Sram?
USBLoaderGX set the Sram flags to progressive if you have component cable, use 480p wii setting, or choose force progressive or Prog patch option.

I don't use the wii anymore to try, but I guess you already try different settings too?

edit:
sorry, what I remembered (with sram) was used by DIOS MIOS and devolution, not nintendont :(
I don't know if the Sram is even affecting games launched from nintendont.

I found that when you change to progressive mod in nintendon't it doesn't work except when memcard emulation is turned ON. But in Super Mario Sunshine it is again turned back because it asks: Do you want to display in 60Hz or 50Hz?I don't think that part is still relevant cause WW shows that sometimes too.

What games work in 480p only with memcard emulation on?
That's really strange, memcard emulation shouldn't have any effect on that.

I tested it only with Wind Waker and Sunshine.

Edit: Eternal Darkness does seem to work like WW. Some games don't need memcard emulation turned on and some don't seem to work.

thanks, converting save was an option however i didn't knew how or if there were made tools for that
i will convert the save and play the NTSC version since it seems the most easiest
i did get eur games because you know, being a pal console and they having extra languages it looked like the ideal, but i never use any other languages lol

i didnt tried anything other than the nintendont loader trough the homebrew channel directly and it's own video options, but that reminds me, i should give usbloaderGX a try

I don't use the wii anymore to try, but I guess you already try different settings too?
I did tried to force the video in nintendont to NTSC and other combinations with the 480P turned on and OFF, there was no use

maybe that's a bug in nintendont?
i have real memory cards and use them makes stuff easier for me, i didn't tried with the memcard emulation (who would remember that anyway lol) but either way, i can just convert my save i hope and be good with it

hey i was just about to convert my save from pal to NTSC, the dude mentions there are newer versions of this software?
i tried to run this but i am missing the COMDLG32.ocx
i found that file in windows folder, copied into the program folder, no use

edit found a new version of a converter, which i totally forgot and did reply in the thread lol

regarding some pal wii games at 60hz it drove me mad for a while i had a similar issue when forcing games to run 60hz, and for me it just turned out to be that one of my televisions didn't like it so i settled for 576i or 480p the latter being smother while i found 576i seemed to have less frames (i had two wiis running at once on different tv sets at the time and just overlooked it)

I used the USA version like one of the guys said, it's working fine and the only thing I noticed is the initial screen just went black for seconds, after all works fine :)
