Gaming Rune factory

So what do you guys think is the best rune factory game? I played the 1st one and it was cool till the dungeon part.
Just started 4 today and so far it's cool.

BTW does it matter or affect the game or end on who you marry

I like 4 the best but I've read some people say that they prefer 3, which is good too but the world is kind of small compared to 4.
It doesn't matter who you marry (storywise), or at least not that I can remember.

As of earlier I just got the axe, so I just started. Are there lots of cool things to do in the world? Lots of hidden stuff/quests? Are there dungeons that you can go in that aren't part of the main story?

Yes, all of it.

You can choose to follow the story from dungeon to dungeon or explode the map. Of course there is road block to stop you from advance before plot but otherwise it pretty open (Actually with some trick you can access some area earlier and got stronger gear but I not recommend it because it make the game boring). You can find hidden area with treasure on the map that require puzzle solving to access (or just having right equipment), mostly spell and sometime early higher class mineral for forging. There is some dungeon that not relate to plot but they are kinda short and straight forward that lead to optional boss. There also crop dungeon that you can grow on your field (yes, it is a thing) and Sharance Maze (which is probably post game content unless you cheat and broke it for high power gear).

P/s: Rune Factory 3 are have the best cast (aka waifu) of all the game while Rune Factory 4 have the best gameplay that any Rune Factory game can offer.

what is frontier? I have rune factory 1-4 never heard of frontier.

Frontier is a wii game, it's pretty good too but the runey system ruined the experience for me.
There's also oceans/tides of destiny, another rune factory wii game but that one focuses less on farming, I didn't like it as much.

Thing is you don't HAVE to actively make use of the runey system. If you just let things be, you'll do alright. However if you do make good use of the Runeys and better understand how they help your farm prosper, they really can make it all the more of a rewarding experience. But it is a lot of extra work, that I'd agree was ultimately not really worth it, and I can see why it didn't return after that game.

And I'm with ya, despite Tides of Destiny being the later console Rune Facotry game, I definitely enjoyed Frontier way more.

For a while, yes. But then the runeys eat each other (forgot what the food chain is like but I remember grass runeys are food and don't eat anything) and you run out of one type of runeys and then your crops grow slower unitl they stop growing at all.

Doesn't matter if you hate the platform or not, its a fantastic game, probably second best in the entire series. I'm not much a Wii fan either, but I still hold a firm belief that Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition is the definitive edition of that game, and is by far most enjoyable when played as the Wii version. And its not like Frontier made big use of motion control either, pretty sure it was playable with a pro controller, making it a gaming experience not much unlike one you would have experienced on a Gamecube, PS2, or OG Xbox.

It's hard...between the 3 where you can be wooly and where the upgrades aren't difficult and the 4 where you can switch sex, do some bestiality and the upgrades are so fucking annoying to do.....and someone told me that the end of the 4 was meh

The first RF game I played was RF 2. Played it until shortly after I got married and got sick of it.

A few years later I played RF 3. It was a great game and I finished the story mode.

I never played much of RF 4 because I found it too similar to RF 3.

The ending of 4 was pretty meh sadly(I really wanted to like it, but I was really disappointed). I loved 3 so much. 3 did everything right compared to 4. 4 has such a complicated system with those stupid points(I hated it). I recommend 3 over 4 anyday. I would hope Op could find 3 for a good price and it be a real cart.
