Ok, sorry for the n00bish question. but...it'll help a few people I'm sure..

What do I do to get the latest version of hbmenu.nro with all the commits / updates to date?

https://github.com/switchbrew/nx-hbmenu

Or better yet, is there somewhere I can download the hbmenu.nro file directly that is already updated and compiled?

Thanks guys!

The internez iz zo hard, it hurz my brainz.

I already asked me friends what links are, but they only would like me to recommend an app.

I head, that app will solve all future problems.

Thanks guys! :)

edit: Potential misinterpretation.

The "latest" version, with all the "latest commits", only can be compiled - until there is a release. This serves the purpose of having the current codebase online - but being able to make changes to it, that might have to be tested/altered, before the program gets into a release state.

So everyone can try it - but as far as the wider public is concerned, they are usually expected to stick to released build versions. At least in theory.

Instating build bots, or "build sharing communities" - serves no real purpose here, and might actually add to confusion (more versions, unexpected issues..)

I've noticed, after posting - that you were asking for a version with the latest commits and added an edit in the previous posting.

Whoever runs the repository is deciding, when the code is in a state for a new release version.

There is much to be said about leaving projects under the ownership of their creators.

That said - I believe, there is a modified version out there which works on the most current switch FW versions, which might include more current commits - but I dont have a link at hand. It was distributed on gbatemp though.

Ok Thanks for the info. I understand. I tried to find it, but I am not having any luck so that is why I thought I would ask. I heard it helps a lot of the crashing that has been happening with the 2.0.0 version, when docked, so that is why I am interested in it.

look for the latest sd files for switch, It should contain the latest version of hb menu

Its not a rule written in stone either, as anyone can build and distribute versions - if they are referencing the source. Its more of a "I have an issue with the compiled version from friday" problem - that may add to an unsustainable environment.. ;) With retroarch (pre release) bulds, we've had people asking around for "personal" or "more current builds" before - not because, they didnt exist, but because they didn't feel like looking around. At this point, it becomes somewhat unmanageable... ;)
