If you talk about the application signing keys & certificates, that are located inside the SDK. If you have a development unit, you could resign/repack retail games to work on dev unit.

For console keys, either they are unique to a dev unit or the shared ones would be useless to you.

Just what i'm currently doing with them.
- Decrypting SDK stuff, like Firmware 0.x (FW 1.0.0 is 2016-11-21 18:30:08, SDK debug FW is from 2016-10-11 09:31:38)
- Finding out how some dev apps work with IDA Pro
- Porting DevMenu from Debug Unit to Retail Unit
stuff like that... ^^

You could use them to decrypt unreleased games / update data.

For example the Splatoon 2 3.1 update was leaked two days before from the dev server.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.

Free release can have loopholes where they still make money through ads
