Homebrew Suggestion Switch Media Player

I'm working on one. It's very much not ready for primetime, it currently is just an audio player without a graphical interface that succeeds in playing Ogg Vorbis files.

My plan is to get it playing all sorts of audio files, get a GUI working, and then patiently await a working OpenGL implementation, with the mind to start playing videos once that's in place. I could try to play videos using SDL but rendering SDL on software at the same time as running e.g. an h.264 decode is going to be an unusable mess as things stand, and it wouldn't be worth it when I'd have to retarget for OpenGL later.

There's at least one other person working on one that I know of on the ReSwitched discord, but they seem to be approaching things GUI-first, whereas I'm approaching backend first. Maybe we can collab at some point.

I will not be providing .nros for some time, but I just wanted to show that it's something that's in progress.

impressive indeed and good 4 u guys, that people are so open minded, did u notice that T-H-I-C-C sailor moon? AND men around her? CREEPY AF :D

i still remember who's sailor moon cauz i watched her when i went to elementary school.
hahahaha yea xD some people are really like this clichée xD
But the most of them are pretty normal. Having a Family, Kids, a good job and stuff. But they like to watch Anime.
I can totally understand that. Many Anime have such a great story and character development. In comparison to all these "Cartoons" or TV Series you can watch in germany are just dumb and boring.

Bullshit

Edit: Just as a side-note, my retroarch port running 720p, on 1 single cpu core uses like 30%.
Not to mention this is bullshit in general and a non-factor unless you start reaching temps 100+°C
It's better to ignore him. He just like how linux make trouble to people, so recomend it to everyone.
Returning to topic, give things time. People are working hard in order to get many things done, but it's still way early.

NX Shell can currently view images of various formats (PNG/JPG/GIF/BMP). I have yet to add any zooming functions or anything like that. It will also soon be able to play music (MP3, OGG, MOD, WAV). Once ffmpeg is ported I can look into video support.
This would be amazing!!!! Thanks for your hard work

Anime.. yikes! smells like PC gamer

But srsly, I agree a media player would be great, but ok-ish on the go, like a bigger phone or something. Docked would be more useful

Video playback wise, the Switch is fully capable of pushing out 4k. We just need hw accel in order to do it. Without hardware accelleration, even 720p is gonna be painfully tough.

Once we get that video driver though, the flood of homebrew, including (i imagine) Kodi, will be awesome.
