Anything anybody's posting here has already been written ten times and then copied by ten people and their brothers and sisters but I'm lurking and checking back now and then to see when this thread can reach a hundred pages of speculative bullshit.

It's basically a never ending cycle.

Would you like to play Old Maid then for another 5 pages?

I'm sure that June 15th was the deadline for the self-imposed 90 day non-disclosure of the bootrom vuln.
According to kate, it was some 'arbitrary' date that 'arbitrarily' aligned with E3
Oh. I didn't even think about the fact that promising a summer release date could kind-of-align things with E3. =\

That's a bit embarrasing. I'm really not all that into playing games myself, and so I didn't actually think about when events like E3 occur: I just picked an imprecise description of around when the disclosure window ends, with the goal being not to tie things to any specific day. I'd prefer to avoid things interacting with the E3 hype; but I think that with this it probably makes sense not to artifcially delay anything and just to release as soon as we can, even if E3's a thing.

Never left, just removed the name for not contributing much.

*snip*
No she left, no longer on the discord server, no longer contributing. Never said why, all we know is it's "for personal reasons".
And she contributed plenty before leaving, so it's not for "not contributing much"

Yeah, she didn’t contribute much, other than finding and releasing Fusée Gelée, the fundamental exploit that allowed developers to blow open the Switch.

Saying she didn’t contribute much downplays the fact that she is a big reason why the entire development scene exists right now.

I see it like this...

What are you REALLY expecting June 15th? An Atmosphere release? Fine.

Lets assume for a moment it does release. What exactly, as an end user are you going to do with it?

Run backups on June 15th? Nope. Not going to happen on this date. No backup loader exists for Atmosphere yet.

Run homebrew? Erm... You can already do that with Hekate right now. And if you can develop homebrew, chances are you already have / are developing via Hekate, or helping with Atmosphere itself.

Which leaves Emunand and Game hacking / modding / datamining... Great. So you have your shiny new emunand tucked away on your Sd card (Sandisk/Transcend/Samsung/Takeyourbloodypick). What are you going to do with it on June 15th? Or maybe, you are DESPERATE to hack that game you are playing... (Pokemon or something? - don`t the tools exist already via that save editor? Or maybe you are DESPERATE for your battery to be resync`d because Linux messed it up.

So, while Atmosphere is very exciting for developers, NOTHING EXCITING FOR THE END USER WILL HAPPEN on release day. Unless you just like to look at new menu options or something.

I personally am looking forward to it, but I have realistic expectations for release day. I`m looking forward to checking out features and code and new possibilities and gradually doing some fun devving which I can already do now via Hekate. And a lot more features.

But I`m certainly not looking forward to the noob posts complaining that they can`t run their backups on June 15th.

That Thomhack boy is a classic example. And I stuck up for that twat before I realised he was a twat (how he was talking to Michael was disgusting).

So, tl;dr - don`t have too high expectations come June 15th if there is a release. If you are JUST a gamer, it will probably do little for you on this date. But if you are a dev, I get your excitement - but page after page of speculative crap doesn`t normally come from proper "devs". They already know the score by looking at the Github commits etc etc.

Lol. SD doesn't stand for SanDisk. I get why you would think that, but it doesn't.

Eh? Sandisk is a brand of SD card.

Come on, son, keep up. I used Sandisk as a descriptive term for where the Emunand will be stored. On the Sandisk SD card.

Or would you prefer Transcend, TDK, Samsung instead of Sandisk?

Can someone stop this planet. I want to get off...

You should probably use the term SD. SD is the name of the device, SanDisk is a brand that makes SD. That would be like calling all sodas Coke. Coke is a brand of soda, but not the general term for all soda.

if emunand was a possibility then you could use it to boot up a game you own and go online whilst not having to worry about messing around with sysnand if other cool features do arise and you accidently mess up the install process

What would I do with the Emunand?

For starters, I would use it to get a more candid look at the data containers used by the system.
I would use it to look into modding Skyrim on the NX.
I would use it to use homebrew without writing crap all over my actual sysnand that Ninty might take offense to.
I would use it to run newer/modified versions of the NX OS without blowing efuses.

You know, the things you use an emunand for.

Really-- why ask this question?

I'm not trying to start anything. Stop your extreme back-peddalling and calm down.
