Hey, my switch came with 4.1.0. Would it be a big difference (negatively) to update to 5.1.0?

So AutoRCM doesnt work on 5.1.0?

Not sure about AutoRCM since I have no plans of using it. The only difference between 4.1.0 and 5.1.0 is on 5.1.0, you'll need to keep entering RCM to get into CFW when it releases. Though sometime in the future for 4.1.0, you'll be able to softmod it and enter CFW without the use of RCM. So if you want to easily enter CFW, stay on 4.1.0. If you don't care about using a jig everytime, then feel free to update to 5.1.0. That's basically the gist of it.

Unless you want to wait more time for homebrew or cfw, then stay on 4.1.0.
That isn't necessarily true though. We have a way of getting ALL firmwares to run exploited boot code.

The only difference between old firmwares and newer firmwares, is how easy it is to load homebrew. The Spectre exploit makes this possible.

Atmosphere won't be limited to a firmware version when it releases, the only difference will be people past 4.1.0 will have to get it running using the hardmod RCM exploit.

What does spectre have to do with this??? It has ZERO bearing on our ability to run Homebrew as it does not affect ARM Processors

In the future 4.1.0 and below will get the option to switch on your switch and manually go to an option on the software to boot a CFW, anything after 4.1.0 will have to use the jig that slots down the side of the switch and use a dongle/tether to boot a cfw (for the time being).

Sorry, not Spectre but the ShofEL2 exploit that was found by fail0verflow. This will allow any Swich (Before the Mariko variant is released), on any Firmware to run unsigned code before bootup. Meaning that every firmware moving forward has already been bypassed, before it's even been released. Nintendo has no way of patching this until Nintendo start using a different chip.

Or ya know, it has nothing to do with an exploit per say, it's the fact that nvidia left themself a back door on all tegra chips

From Fail0verflow:
"Choosing whether to release an exploit or not is a difficult choice. Given our experiences with past consoles, we’ve been wary of releasing vulnerability details or exploits for fear of them being used primarily for piracy rather than homebrew."

Simply put, it asks the JoyCon not to ground that specific pin anymore.

what? its a physical ground, what are you even talking about
the ground is set physically by soldering, bending pins or with a jig

Nintendo cannot patch the hardware bug

youre talking nonsense

Hi another question:

Is there a way to update the games on my switch without being on the latest firmware?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
