So... I was wondering on if there was any way to change the preinstalled wallpapers, like ''Bliss'' with something like Resource Hacker. If I can change the wallpapers via a file on the installation disc, where on a Windows XP CD would this file be? Sorry in advanced if you can't get what I'm trying to say.

Files in the i386 folder of an XP disc are compressed with the same kind of compression used in cab archives, you can extract them with "expand bliss.bm_" and recompress them with "makecab bliss.bmp" for example

To actually edit the file list (including target folders), you need to edit a certain file also in the i386 folder, I think it has a SIF extension

If you just want the quick and dirty solution, you can use subfolders of $OEM$ to copy arbitrary files to the root or the Windows folder at the time of installation, for example D:\$OEM$\$$\Web\Wallpaper\cool-bg.jpg

Why is anybody still using Windows XP? It's been over four years since it received regular security updates, and it's lacking in features.

I'm currently using it because it's surprisingly efficient (on age- and specs-appropriate hardware), it does everything I currently need or want, it doesn't do as many things I don't want (such as change for the sake of looking new, or trying to use hardware owners as proxy for extorting $1000/year from manufacturers for driver signing while stiffling modded and homebrew drivers) and because it lets me smile at people who think anyone using it is ignorant and/or trolling ;)

If hardware limitations are an issue, I would recommend installing something like Lubuntu. The security issues alone are reason enough not to using Windows XP.

Edit: Otherwise, I would recommend using Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10.
