I tried playing a little earlier (around 30 mins) and everything seems OK on v3. No freezing and such. Fingers crossed that nothing else acts up. I'm so happy to have finally booted into the kernel after a week of trying.

glad to hear that, you have two choice now.

1. downgrade the kernel to 1.02T5, http://www.ezflash.cn/zip/omega102T5.zip it will no ask you upgrade the firmware and keep the new kernel functions.
2. stay at kernel 1.02 and firmware v3, wait firmware v5, but you will be asked to upgrade every time.

What's the difference between the two versions besides the upgrade prompt? Just wondering since you call it a downgrade.

I tried to use 1.02T5, here's what I did/what happened.

1. I deleted the old ezkernel.bin (from v4) and the omegafw3.gba from my SD card.
2. I backed up my saves to my HDD.
3. I placed the new ezkernel.bin (from the 1.02T5 zip file) in my root folder.
4. Booted up normally, but got the update prompt. (I forgot to press R) So I press B to cancel.
5. Got the micro SD Initial error again. (cries)
6. I undid everything I did. (I placed back the v4 kernel and omegafw3.gba in my root folder)
7. Booted it up again and it worked. (Still getting the update prompt, but whatever.)

I haven't tried playing longer again after I did the above steps, but I think I'll stick to this setup. I'm too scared to see that Micro SD initial error screen of doom again. The update prompt can get bothersome, but once I start playing, I'll hardly notice anyway.

Pressed R this time (with t5 kernel) , got the initial error again. (Blue screen)
Put back v4 kernel and it works again.

Looks like the changing the kernel causes the initial error to me.

So yeah... since this set up is the only thing that makes me actually boot to the kernel, I'm sticking to it:

Downgraded to v3 using the gba downgrader (omegafw3.gba)
ezkernel.bin from v4

In root folder: both omegafw3.gba and ezkernel.bin from v4

If I try to change the ezkernel.bin to some other version, I get the initial error again and can't play anything, so I'm sticking to the above setup.

Curious to know if OP has the same issue.

Edit: OMG... now I'm getting the Micro SD card initial error again with the same setup. I'm starting to doubt if this is a software issue now since something might've happened when I reinsert the SD card.

Edit 2: Cleaned the contacts again, still getting the Micro SD error. Now, I still get the update prompt, then after that, I get the error again. Card is useless again. I can't play :/

Edit 3: Nothing I do works. Tried changing cases, cleaning everything thoroughly, formatting and reformatting, changing SD cards (heck, even if I don't have an SD card inserted, it gives me that initial error). I'm frankly frustrated now, so I guess it's back to the PSP for me for my GBA fix...

Yeah bro, I'm frustrating with that too.

Yeah bro, I'm frustrating with that. Is more viable going back with EZ Flash 4, never got any problems with him.... Damn, $48 spends in the trash.

I saw you said you can boot into kernerl in your previous post
He said after playing some game, he got the initial error again, and it doesn't work anymore.

By the way, I managed to downgrade and still got the error. It doesn't appear to fix anything.

Shelved my Omega since it's useless now. I also decided it's not worth the cost/effort to send it back. It's been more than a month.

Yes, but I don't know how I can't.

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate your help. I don't get to see such thorough customer service as often, and it's very reassuring.

The OP's case might be slightly different from mine, but in my case, there isn't any point in me trying at the moment because firstly, I can't boot. Secondly, I already downgraded my firmware and saw the issue still persists.

I also don't want to think I poured money down the drain, so I already tried a lot of things like cleaning the unit, testing different SD cards at different clusters/formats and reformatting them, using the Omega without an SD card (still getting initial error).

From this, I can rule out that a firmware downgrade isn't a solution. Seems logical? Perhaps the error started up after the upgrade by chance and it had the possibility of acting up any time. I do remember having some issues like some games not showing up in the selection screen when I unzipped directly into the card. (some other person posted this in the forums) Solved it by unzipping in Windows first, THEN transferring to the SD card.

Oh, and just curious. Without an SD card inserted, what error message does the Omega normally say? Without an SD card inserted, mine still says that initial error thing, so if it's a different error message, I don't think the SD cards have anything to do with it.

No, my error is the same. And I still can't boot, 'cause the error continues. I will go back to my EZ Flash 4.

Yeah, I think it's the same, but as long as we can't check how your Omega works after a downgrade, we can't definitively conclude that v4 isn't the cause of the issue.

Omega is my first GBA flashcart, so unfortunately, I have nothing to fall back onto. (My PSP also hilariously broke after that, so I won't be playing any GBA for a while )
