Interesting.
I'm concerned whether or not nintendo can detect this, and if it's safe online.
TX should test this thoroughly before they start taking preorders imo. Don't blindly preorder things people, be careful.

Heeeelloooo. Has anyone here heard of the word "competition"? I don't care what side of the mess of the Switch scene you vouch for, more competition can only be a good thing. When you have only one method dominating the scene, it's just like a monopoly in a market.

I'm interested to see where this TX method goes. Wouldn't dare use any hack out there right now, but it'll be fun to see how things shake out.

Yes - but the CFW supports those apps, that's the point. FBI or something similar was available very early on, and WUP installer came BEFORE CFW.

Perhaps I misunderstood then. In your post it looked like you were trying to say the CFW needs a built-in installer, rather than sigcheck patching so that other people can develop installers down the road, which why wouldn't Atmosphere have that?

Oh no, nothing should have that. Directly promoting piracy in a CFW = nintendo ninjas coming for you. Hopefully that happens to TX....

there are only 2 things online I care about.
1. will Nintendo charge me $20 a year for me to link trade pokemon online?
2. Will they ban people using cfw for a really short amount of time online why they are link trading?

I feel like 2 weeks ago everyone would have been happy with the announcement of a dongle that delivers the payloads without being tethered to a PC, a Raspberry Pi or an android phone... Seems most people are just sad that it's TX selling a product... It works, it delivers the payload it supports backups. There's also the potential at the initial screen that Atmosphere can be added as a launch option..

This. I don't give a shit what people do with their money. I bet if TX didn't pretty much announce months ago that they were going to release piracy shit, we wouldn't have even had CFW coming out next month. Probably tons of circle jerking, and devs teasing us. If TX suddenly announced tomorrow that they were going to release a usb device that would allow piracy on PS4, you'd see a release for the latest firmware so fast, your head would spin. Competition is a good thing, who gives a shit what people wanna do with their money(I personally won't be buying it).

lol, you think teams are holding this stuff back because of competition? If that's true, why isn't atmosphere out yet?

It's only coming out because of TX. Hell, Reswitch started threatening TX to release free stuff, to pretty much fuck them over, before they could release their pay for device. One of the devs even threaten to show you how to make a chip for your Switch like last month in response to TX.

That's.....do you just believe everything you're told? That may be the single most uninformed sentence I've ever read. Why would you think TX would have ANY effect on releasing stuff?

honestly I prefer a good old exchange of money for a product, way too many devs now days have a chip on their shoulders, and tend to do a whole bunch of teasing and moral tea bagging, give some guys some cash and get what you want and not what someone else is willing to let you have

that said if devs had more competition and didn't form little cliques, scenes tend to progress more freely and openly and that's something I can enjoy

Moreso in the vein that it lights a fire under them to get the actual end product out and done faster. If TX didn't exist, none of the others would be AS motivated because they could take as long a time as they wished since a competing solution wouldn't be hanging over their heads.

It just would have been a much better move to simply sell the dongle as a customizable solution. No word from TX yet on if it will support alternative payloads like Atmosphere, and why would they anyways? What incentive is there for them to support other CFWs? They've already clearly demonstrated they have no interest in supporting the scene by keeping their CFW closed-source and only providing it on these dongles.

Sad to see people saying things like this....as if any self-respecting dev has ever teased / moral "tea bagged" instead of releasing..

Also, if you don't like teasing, i've got some bad news about what TX just did.

Repeat after me: ethical debates are tedious af.

The more stuff happening, the better for all of us.
So you think a $30 chip that does the same exact thing as the $0 solution is better? Really, REALLY sad seeing this kinda talk. Forget ethics, TX is offering a significantly worse product and people are supporting them just because they dont like RS.

The self entitlement in this thread right now, and I thought the 3DS scene was bad.
Remember, the 3DS scene started getting bad with a device just like this....but this time, we have a free alternative that's way better....#fuckTX

honestly I feel sad people think others should put in a bunch of work for free and never ever expect anything in return or they are the bad guis
