No it doesnt, that can lead some people into error... You don't need to open your joy-cons...

You can either make an easy jig with just a paper clip folded at the right place or buy a cheap 3D printed one and its just as easy as attaching the joy-con to the console and thats all it needs or the cheaper way just pick up any cable that you have, touch the 10th pin on the switch right rail side (the one further from the LCD) and connect the other tip to like the metal fins of the Switch cooler and thats all it requires, no tools or anything special needed...

I my self from how easy it is, I dont even consider it a hardmod as its just so stupidly easy and requires nothing at all other than any cable or conductive piece of metal and doesnt require opening anything, neither the switch, neither the joy-cons.

The point is that it still requires hardware.

Yeah the hardware of any piece of metal that conducts electricity in the world, no modifications or opening anything is required...

The traditional hardmodes were more like a chip that we needed to solder and the switch is just a piece of wire.

Its a hardmode that by it self is just as good as softmode, so easy than any kid can do it.
