My friend got a N3DS, and I want to install Luma for him. After seeing this video, I'm hoping it can be done. Still unclear on a few things. Not sure what files he has on his SD card. Can anyone help clarify this, and maybe point me to a full guide on this process?

11.6 based on the title :P

Follow the guide @Drak0rex https://3ds.hacks.guide/get-started.html

Thats will start you out with an entry point requirement at least.
Yeah I've been missing details lately, lol sorry, I read linux instead of luma, until i opened the thread, lmao thanks for overlooking my lack of focus.

My friend or the guy in the vid? vid updated to 11.6 before hacking anything.
You can use the seedminer or ntr boot hack, whichever is more convenient.

Quick suggestion, don't use video guides, video guide are very quick to go out of date it's just never recommended to use them. That being said, always use The Guide, it's always up to date and helps the community help you.
Honestly neither OFW nor model of 3DS makes a difference anymore since we basically have universal methods now. You can use any of these methods
NTRBoot* This method only require a compatible cart and a magnet to trigger the exploit.
seedminer: Requires a DSiware game to be bought legally off the eShop
DSiWare: This method requires a second system that is already hacked and a legit DSiware game to transfer an exploited DSiware game to another system
Hardmod: Requires soldering skills and a few extra parts

*Personally I recommend NTRBoot as it also gives you a DS flashcart for DS games and also a flashcart for future systems to hack

NTRBoot looks like the best option. I have a DSTWO 2in1 Super||Card. That should work shouldn't it?

Nope, you are going to need one of the carts from the guide.
Currently the DSTwo's booting method is a confusing mess and no one can quite figure out how to get NTRBoot working on it.
