I think I need to address the hate or disappointment that this game is not gonna make it to the switch but rather the 3ds. I understand that some would be confused and or pissed because it’s on a dying console but I think we need to think on the positive side of things. We should be greatful that Nintendo actually decided remake it. They could of thought of it as a waste of time. It’s better than nothing. We should just appreciate it that they thought of the LM’s community. I honestly can’t till it comes out.

3DS is pretty alive, i'd say. Nintendo already pushed a title to 2019, and imo already to keep the 3ds library alive. It kinda confirms they will continue support to the 3DS until 2019.

But also, i don't think it would be a surprise if they bring the remake to the Switch. And if they didn't bring it, it's probably because they have a brand new Luigi's Mansion in the coming, i would guess.

I must say I didn't expect much from this Nintendo Direct regarding the 3DS. Was surprised they even plan to announce anything for it, and even more surprised with what they announced.

Still I kinda feel it's slowly fading away and I'm afraid next direct won't be the same story. Most of the stuff they announced are easy ports/remakes. They had the engine ready for Luigi's Mansion.

The 3DS isn't dead, nor dying anytime soon, lol. As of now, it's a far better gaming device than the Switch.
Sorry let me rephrase I know the 3ds is not dying I mean that people think that and that’s why it was disappointing to them. I don’t care I’m just greatful for them remaking it

Assuming the game has stereoscopic 3D (which is actually assuming a lot of games released for the 3DS these days), then I completely understand the desire to remake the game on the 3DS instead of the Switch. Way back when they were originally making the original game, they were playing around with Luigi's Mansion and stereoscopic 3D, even going so far as to make overlays to place on your TV to give off the effect, but this proved to be anything but cost effective, and as such stereoscopic 3D died for the title way back then. By remaking it for the 3DS, they finally are giving the player the ability to enjoy the game in that way that they had envisioned for the Gamecube release nearly 2 decades ago.

I mean, it looks like ass compared to the original. I can only hope I can make it look good in an emulator. Really love this game, but i'm worried about what kind of huge corners they had to cut in order for it to work on the 3ds. But it's something! glad they're showing luigi's mansion some kind of love at least.

To be fair, full screen previews of 3DS games with 3D models never look great in the trailers, yet when the games are in your hand, they tend to look just fine. I bet the difference to the human eye when you're actually playing the game on the 3DS is far less noticeable than the trailer would lead you to believe, I've seen that effect happen with 3DS games before in the past.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

More ports from Nintendo

Its a remake.

Your eyes aren't as good as mine then :P they still look like butt to me. But I may just notice things like that, and it won't affect most people. But still, I can always upscale the internal on Citra, so I'm not too upset. I can dream this'll lead to a proper sequel on the switch, if it sells well enough.

Nah, you look at other Gamecube-era and Wii-era remakes on the 3DS and compare them to their trailers and in your hand (such as Metal Gear), the smaller screen makes the differences not nearly as bad. Granted they're still there, but they don't look nearly as ass as the trailers lead you to believe.

Have they said what is different or changed in the game? As far as I'm concerned this is akin to the hd remasters of this generation. I just want more new games not old games.

Haven't gone over all the differences yet, but obvious ones are already notable including the second screen functionality, and likely the ability to turn on the 3D effect. It also looks like they remade it with the engine they made for Luigi's Mansion New Moon, which would certainly make sense.

...again, that's all you. I still notice. And again, I can just bump up the resolution in Citra, so not a huge deal anyway. N64/playstation games tend to look around the same with some give and take, but anything above that looks like a terrible downgrade, ~*to me*~.

LOL, this isn't up for debate. The smaller the screen, the better those graphics look. I'm not saying those games look beautiful, just that they look better in your hands than the trailers lead you to believe.

...just keep telling yourself that, whatever makes you feel better. Just set it 6 feet away and it'll be just like playing it on the gamecube!
