When installing and launching emuNAND games through USB loader GX's NAND emulation i get sent back to the homebrew channel, anybody know what causes this and how to fix it?

cIOS 250 base 57 v10 beta52

The latest version of USBloader GX, v3.0 r1268

HDD: WD My Passport 500GB WDBKXH5000AWT (I think)

Every game i try to play fails, among the ones i tried are sper mario bros 1,2,3, lost levels and Dr. Mario the WiiWare game

This is not recommended V8 or beta52..

Wiiware can be problematic, try setting the emunand setting to NEEK rather than full...

settings>game option>emuNAND mode : Neek < i think.......
I have installed cIOS v8 and now it works! except for that only PAL wads work, not NTSC wads but i dont think that will be a problem. Thank you very much for your help :)

No worries.

For the NTSC wads, what happens ? I have a few here and the seem to be OK with my PAL NAND..

Are you using component leads to connect to your TV by any chance ? Some WiiWare has trouble with component cables, if you are getting a black screen with them try this, you will need a Nunchuk though..

1) Select the Virtual Console game from the Wii menu, then select "Start" to begin the game.
2) When the game starts, press the Home button on the Wii Remote. (In many games, the music can be heard when the game starts.)
3) Select "Operations Guide" from the Home menu.
4) Press the Z + A + 2 Button simultaneously (the Z Button is on the Nunchuk). A sound will be heard if the button combination has been entered correctly.
5) Close the Home menu. The game display should now be correct.

Maybe it's not all NTSC games?
some games need specific IOS version and/or base.

You can install specific cIOS the same way you did to replace d2x with v8, but you can use any slot you want in the 240-249 range. (for example, you can install cIOS rev17 in slot 247 to play "frobot" or "Moto Heroz" which don't work with d2x, and then change that individual game's settings to use that slot, and keep other games to the default slot). Many N64 VC have the same restriction.

Some games work only with Neek mode (not with cIOS).

if you need a guide to setup NEEK, or just information about IOS and emuNAND in general, you can read here :

edit:
Oh, and you are right. I always forget about the Button combo for VC games too :)
Thanks for giving that info again.

Is there a recommended setup for best compatibility for all games?

ok so i know which guide you used. https://sites.google.com/site/completesg/backup-launchers/installation.
because its says if you want emunand you just set it to beta 53 and you have beta 52 installed on ios 250 use ios 250 by changeing the game and loader settings to ios 250. ive had the same problem in the past and this works just fine.

There's no single "best setup".
If you looked at the link I gave, some games only work with specific cIOS version and/or base.

an Ultimate setup with all games working would require you to install each different IOS at the same time in different slots and setup different emuNANDs (one per region) as some games only work on specific NAND region and the "region free" patch is not enough.
installing old cIOS version has a lot more restriction than newer version, like type of HDD, path, size, etc.
so, to do that ultimate setup it would require to know what you need and why, to setup all the things correctly.

Most users don't bother with multiple NAND and multiple cIOS.
They just go with 2 things :
1. d2x cIOS v8 (or v10 r52) based on IOS 56, this will play a lot of games in cIOS mode (80%)
2. Neek files, use to boot remaining 15+% games not working with cIOS Mode.
the remaining 5% are games which work only on NAND from specific region, and you'll rarely need a quadruple NAND setup (J/K/E/P), but it's possible. It will make what... 4 more % of obscure games working. (I'm sure you don't need to play korean games?)
... yeah, that will make 1% of game not working at all, neither on cIOS nor Neek. You won't need to play these game, or you can't anyway (I'm sure you are not ready to play a Japanese MMORPG with monthly subscription).
