I bricked my O3ds a few years ago, and it displays the Black Screen of Death. I decided on trying to fix it now. I have the NAND backups on my computer, but the original SD card with all the Luma files is gone. Is there any way to still unbrick the 3DS without that SD card? I have another blank SD card to put any files I need, and as I said, I have the NAND backups of the 3ds.

edit: I also have another 2ds with cfw that I never use. Could I use that one to unbrick this one?

Well, it only lights up blue. No sounds and no sights. I don't think I have the ds flashcart.

How exactly did you brick it? That's a pretty important piece of information. Since you say a couple years ago I'm gonna assume it was Winter 2015 when the downgrade tools came out. If you flashed the New 3DS firmware you need to use NTRBoot or a hardmod to flash the correct firmware to it.

If that wasn't the cause then you can try the built in recovery mode. Assuming Luma doesn't wipe that out.

It started glitching while I was playing Smash 4, and it crashed. I tried to reboot and it booted on that Black Screen.

ok so it seems that either you did not set up ctrnand or your ctrnand is corrupt my advice is to buy a pre-flashed ntrboot ds flashcard (like this one R4i Gold 3DS Plus nds-card.com) then you could use it to boot gm9 and perform a ctrtransfer

Basically this. As far as CFW based bricks go I've never heard of it just crapping out unless it's a hardware issue.

I don't believe this, because when I had the SD Card, the Luma thing and GM9 popped up. I think I just need the SD card.

correct because it was booting from the sd card . . . but as you dont have the sd cards contents its a tedious guessing game of which version of luma you had and trial and error until you figure it out . . . but if you would rather struggle before taking solid advice then go to 3ds.guide and set your sd card up with all the files found on the finalization page then attempt to boot while holding select then (when it fails) try the next (older) version of luma over and over until you get the desired result or fail on all versions

Alright, sounds good. I'll be back shortly.
