Hi, I've had R4 3DS SDHC 2017 for my DSi XL and love it. I got a new 2DS XL for Christmas and a Sky3DS Plus and it works well except for the buttons you use to switch the game, I actually hate them. Sometimes I have to hit it several times to switch and slowly rolling through the games to find the one you want is a major pain (I have a 128GB Sandisk card). I much preferred the menu system of the R4. Is there one like this for 3DS?

i know its not what you asked for but cfw would allow you to install all those games (like eshop games) so they show up on your system menu (for quick access) from there you could use folders (for organization)
for info on how to install cfw read here . . . 3DS Guide - 3DS Guide

but to answer your question directly no there is no kind of menu for (or that you could add to) the sky3ds

Technically, gateway 3ds is one without buttons lol, but I really do not recommend it. Follow wormdood's link to install luma cfw, that's the best option for you.

Ok am I seeing this correctly, to put custom firmware on my new 2DS XL I have to have an already modded 3DS or by a flash card from Hong Kong to do this? Is this correct?

You said you already have a DS flashcart, it may be compatible.

any of the flashcarts listed will work a while back i bought the r4i gold 3ds rts from nds-card for $20 just make sure when picking a card you can use it because some require a console on an older firmware and some even require access to a ds/dsi for a step

I have two of these for regular DS games, can I somehow use this to install custom firmware on my New 2DS XL?

I do have a an original 3DS and a couple DSi XLs. What is the best avenue for me to go to get my New 2DS XL with custom firmware?

CFW is the best/cheapest option as others have mentioned, but there's also Stargate 3DS, I don't know a whole lot about that cart but supposedly you select games from a NDS-mode menu then it boots back into 3DS-mode, which is much better than how Sky3DS does it IMO.

Ok so reading through this and it tells me I need a magnet to put it in sleep mode. What magnet is recommended (going to Wal-Mart) and is there a video I can watch for this procedure instead of just reading?

i used one from my fridge . . . it does not really need to be strong to test take a magnet and put it under the "B" button while the system is on . . . if it goes to sleep your good

But you need buttons to enter NDS mode ;-)
