I just got my PSTV and I've been following the noob guide and it made it sound like MolecularShell and VitaShell were the same thing (just a different name). After getting MolecularShell installed and not being able to mount my usb drive, I did some searching and found that MolecularShell 1.43 was dated and that you need VitaShell for the added functionality. But then when I checked the "[Essentials] PS Vita Homebrew" thread, next to VitaShell it says, "molecularShell is a rebranded VitaShell, no need to install this separately"

So yeah, I'm a little confused. Which of these programs should I be using if I just want to play ps1/psp/vita backups with a USB thumb drive? I'm guessing VitaShell? And if so, which version is recommended?

Apologies for the noob questions and thanks in advance for any help.

Isn't 1.43 the latest version of MolecularShell? And is it necessary to have both of them?

Thanks for the response
Yes need both one forget what one lets u give full nand access aka unsafe homebrew access witch u so need to enable

not like it eats up a lot of space, molecule gets installed with Henkaku, so you need it to install Vitashell, but once have both installed just move it to a folder, and forget and use vitashell instead :)

Thanks for the responses guys :)

I've got the latest VitaShell installed and my USB thumbstick acting as my ux0, but I'm having some trouble getting adrenaline installed. I downloaded the ePSP bubble installer v2 from the thread linked in the guide, but the activation process doesn't seem to work. Each time it tells me that my system isn't activated and "Let's do it" but it doesn't happen. Is there a step I'm missing somewhere?

You're using an outdated installer that required the Vita to be activated for Adrenaline install.

Adrenaline no longer requires activation, or a PSP game, to be installed. Just download the latest Adrenaline VPK, and it will set it up for you. https://github.com/TheOfficialFloW/Adrenaline/releases

agreed always get latest releases, especially for Adrenaline, the headaches from earlier builds are all gone, only issue i had was reloading it twice before worked, then installed fix and all good now

Whew, so glad there was another way to do it! I just finished setting it up a bit earlier; thanks for the info!

Yeah, I just realized that I picked the second to the latest version of adrenaline (it was right at the top so I thought it was the newest). I was wondering why it had to be reloaded twice each time :P. About to rectify that now; thanks for the heads up!

I deleted molecular shell after I realized it was an extension of vitashell. Been using vitashell for everything and haven’t regretted deleting molecularshell.

hm... before when i was setting up some stuff after applying henkaku, molecular shell was the only thing that was working. then again maybe that is the only time one would use molecular shell.
