Hello, i'm new to this scene, i've some question :

1. How to identify my PS2 are modded or not?
-my PS2 can read bootleg DVD's (priced at $0.5) sold freely near my house but can't read burned disc (all i got are dreaded "Please insert PS2 disc" message)

2. Based on my case above, how to burn a backup disc?

3. I found a file on an ISO, there's DUMMY.DAT file, can i safely removed it for making a backup disc?

Please help since i want to play a game (SMT Nocturne) which are not sold near me (due to low demand).

1. Was your ps2 bought from someone else? There is a good chance it is not modded either way.

2. You can easily burn a disc with a computer and program. Based on your case though you would need to mod your ps2 in order to play these game backups with something like Free MCboot.

3. Some games you can remove that dummy file however, some games do require that you have it.

1. i bought it at game store, i thought mine are modded (i was convinced by a disc seller that my PS2 are modded but neither Matrix nor Modbo are installed)

2. mine are SCPH-90006 (a model that can't install FreeMcBoot easily, what a pain) and how to check if my PS2 are modded?

3. And how to identify if a game needs Dummy File?

If you can't detect any mod chips or mods than it probably isn't. Did the seller say how the mod was installed or how it works?

Is your code 8d or 9x? Or is it just installing free MCboot would be to difficult to install?

I have no clue honestly.

1. my parents bought it not me and neither me and my parents knows about modchip (i was a kid when my parents bought a PS2 lul), since my PS2 can read disc from a game store (seriously, there's everywhere on my country and I assume all PS2 sold here are modded)

2. No clue either, there's no date code written

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

where to look the date code?

I tried googling and searching forums but I'm at a lost. You could check to see if it has matrix infinity installed if not than your best best that I know is to get a mod chip installed.
