Hello everyone. First I just want to say my 3DS has no CFW. I go to homebrew by using Ocarina of Time. My 3DS is on 11.2.0-35U. All I care about is backing up my saves.

My homebrew launcher was initially on 1.1.something (I forgot) and I was able to use JK Save Manager just fine to back up all my saves (including Ultra Moon). However, when I tried to back up Samus Returns, it yellow screened every time (I tried it over 10 times now). I thought maybe it would work if I updated homebrew to 2.0, but it doesn't. Now a new problem came up. When I use JK manager and an app that backs up DS saves, it red screens and freezes when I try to exit them. It only started doing this after I updated.

Is there any way I can make JK and the DS save manager not freeze when I exit? And is there any way I can back up Samus Returns? I'd be happy to copy and paste my 1.1.something homebrew laucher back, but SR would most likely not work at all. I'd appreciate any help.

I see no point in not running CFW. Try updating the boot.3dsx again.
For me, there's always that tiny fear that I could brick my console. It's a stupid fear I admit, but I was completely fine without it until this stupid game.

I will try updating it again like you suggested.

I think Checkpoint is .cia only, but if there is a .3dsx try that! Also try updating your JKSM .3dsx
Ok I will try it. There is a checkpoint.3dsx file, but usually apps are in a folder with other files. This one is just the 3dsx file, so I'm a little confused :P

I will also try updating the JK file again.

Just shove the .3dsx file with all your others, or put it in a folder. Doesn't matter

I updated JK and it still doesn't work. I tried checkpoint, but nothing was showing up on the page. I can get into it though.

Do you know how to make cartridge games appear on checkpoint?

That's too bad :(

The CFW everyone is using is Rosalina right?

Rosalina is the custom OS/In-game menu added in Luma CFW. Luma is the CFW most everyone is on. Since you're on an earlier FW, it should be pretty straight forward for you to move to CFW. It's the 11.6 FW that it get's harder to mod.

Just follow along on the guide at https://3ds.guide and be sure to follow ALL of the steps. Especially when prompted to make backups.

I guess I will try CFW later. Now when I'm installing it, my system's not going to update right? I'd rather keep it at 11.2.0

After installing CFW there's no reason not to update. There's absolutely nothing that works on 11.2 but not 11.6, while plenty of things that work in 11.6 and not 11.2 (eg very recent games and playing online).

And anyway once you have CFW you can make a NAND backup before updating, so if you don't like being on 11.6 you can just restore your backup and go back to 11.2.
