... Force a modded 3DS to read memory card data as its own? My old 3DS is dead. The motherboard is fried. My SD card with all my saves is intact. I bought a new 3DS, which of course uses microSD. I obviously can't do a system transfer. My NNID is synced to my new 3DS.

So, my question is, using homebrew, can I extract all my savegame data from my old 3DS SD card, then put it on the microSD so that it will read the saves as my own? Kinda like:
Old SD -> computer -> new SD -> homebrewed N3DS?

Is that possible? And if so, how? I don't want to lose all my save data...

Unless the save data was extracted using JKSM save manager, the data for saves are encrypted using console unique keys. With that, there is no way to make another console read those keys unless a system transfer to the new console was done. For what your issue stands at. is I dont see any viable way to reclaim those saves as the methods needed cannot be done.

In theory, it might be possible with a "master key" to extract them. However, I don't know if such a key exists for the saves.

how can you tell?

I sent it in to Nintendo's approved repair place. They tried to use essentially a sled, a hardware assembly designed to force a system transfer. And they tried everything they could and the system wouldn't even boot up long enough to force the system transfer. So in all likelihood, it's the motherboard that is dead.

your dancing here . . . what is the actual problem with the 3ds (nintendo may not want to fix it) so what happens when you power on the "fried" 3ds
details please

My little nephew threw it and the thing is in two pieces now. The upper screen is completely separate from the lower screen.

To recover a ds broken in half?:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
(I know you guys pretty much posted at the same time...I'm just joking
Actually there was a thread about someone booting half a nds so you may joke but it is within the realm of reality

But unless it was charging when it impacted the wall the motherboard is not fried, cracked even smashed but not fried

So as silly as it sounds I want to know what happens when you power it on

I haven't got the system sent back from Nintendo yet. When it's turned on, the blue Led turns on, the bottom screen lights up slightly (just a dull gray) and then it turns itself off.

Throw your nephew at the wall. Anyway, when you get it back see if you can get GM9 to boot from a flashcart. If so then it's not fried.

How would I do that without a top screen? Also, the broken system didn't have homebrew.
