Noob asking for lots of help. I know this will not provide enough info & I apologize, I'm just ready to punch a wall. I'm trying to do this for my girlfriend's children, whose father recently died. Using a 128gb SD card I was able to get the Homebrew channel up & running with FCEUX, SNES9X, GenplusGX, Nintendont, Wiimednafen & Retroarch & this is the last step in this "gift" for them. Anyway I'm rambling. Sorry.

I just want them to be able to play Wii iso's on this "soft modded" Wii v4.3 BUT I can't get it. Been trying for over a week & my patience is running out. I need help. Here are some random questions I THINK I need answered but I no longer know.

1) how should the USB HDD be formatted? It's 200gb. How much should be FAT32? How much should be OSX Extended? --Currently I have a 32gb FAT32 partition & the rest, 167gb is OSX Extended--

2) Of those partitions does one of them need to be formatted as a WBFS partition using the Witgui app? If yes which?

3) When using Witgui to try & transfer a Wii ISO (Metroid Prime Trilogy) from my iMac to my USB HDD which partition does the iso file go to? do I transfer it as an iso file or have Witgui convert it to a wbfs file? do I split the file? If yes to what size? what do I save the file as? ( I tried wbfs/MetroidPrime Trilogy [R3ME01]/R3ME01 ) but still couldn't get anything up & running on the USB Loader Gx so.........

4) what should the settings on USB Loader GX be set to?

5) do I need to install ciOS 236? I have the files but the only instructionalvideos Ive found are for PC not iMac.

I know I am forgetting alot of info so if anyone has the time to help out I will answer any questions to try to get this working. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Bonjour,

Thank you! I FINALLY got it up & running! I had not installed ciOS236 & I had not formatted my USB HDD properly. But thank you!!!!!

The archive format? You can't run games in that format anyway. Just RAR them if you're storing them.

There is a WIT for Windows, it's just not a GUI.
I need to convert wia to wbfs, and when I try in wiibafu to transfer it to an image it says “transfer cancelled” when it reaches 100%. And I don’t know how to use wit.

If you want to try using the command line WIT to unpack them then go download this (get the Windows Cygwin ZIP) and run the installer script in it.

to unpack WIA files you can use "WDF +U <filename>" in a CMD prompt.
