hi guys, i managed to get my hands on a R4i GOLD RTS flashcart. managed to flash ntrboot based on the guide here: https://3ds.guide/flashing-ntrboot-(3ds-single-system)

However, at the part of installing boot9strap by using the magnet. i just couldn't bootup the safeb9sinstaller. Tried too many times, holding (Power) + (Start) + (Select) + (X) with the magnet putting it in sleep mode. But it always just book up the 3ds to the menu screen (in sleep mode as the magnet trick is working).

Every steps are followed exactly as per the guide. I do not know what i'm doing wrong here. Any kind advice?

Hold the buttons before pressing power, and continue holding them for a few seconds after the console powers on.

Actually in your situation, any NTRBoot compatible cart be used can still boot and be flashed with NTRBoot. I suggest checking out either the R4i Gold or Ak2i and checking out The Guide. With this method, you not only can install B9S on any OFW (past, current, and future,) but you also get a flashcart in for DS games!
This is the most widely-accepted method. I did it, and I'm glad. (I can now do it for friends, and they even tip me.) :P

not that, some psu like those corsair rm series stock cables have very big knicks that make it impossible to fit in there
