Okay so I already purchased the game but I'd like to see if this works I installed a game threw fbi will I be able to update it normally or should I download the update and do it manually?

It depends on WHERE you got the CIA. Some CIAs will be able to update while others needs to be done manually...

Okay how high is the risk?
Bad CIAs CAN Brick, but I doubt you'd find a Bad CIA. (It is still important to frequently backup your NAND in the case that you do get bricked, so you can jump into GM9, and restore the NAND...)

CIAs won't get you banned and updating them won't get you banned either. I've actually updated my games through every method available, freeShop, eShop, CIA, and CIAngel. I have yet to have yet to be banned.

Bad CIAs cannot brick you unless it's a system file that's overwritten with the wrong version. Title Managers will simply refuse to install bad titles, period.
