gateway team can easily update the support to emunand to 11.5, but they don't want, now they are trying to sell his new card to their loyal costumers.

Yeah, you're wrong except for the region bit.
Are you sure there's absolutely no restriction? I remember reading that, since keys are only loaded once, on system boot, the procedure, even for EmuNAND was safe only if your SysNAND was on a firmware that had the new keys already, such as 9.2.0 booting Gateway through MenuHAX, or fully updated booting Gateway through A9LH or B9S. Remember that we're talking about someone that's still booting through MSET on 4.1.0-4.5.0, which uses the old keys.

I can confirm that Metroid works great on Gateway w/11.2 emunand. But yeah, they're apparently not offering updates anymore, and there's been no news on their site since February.

They are updating to 11.2 not 11.5. Sometimes it's good to actually read the thread you are replying to.

It will be fine. If you are worried just backup your emunand first in the gateway menu. If it bricks you can easily restore it since you are not touching your sysnand and entry point.
Gateway doesn't allow you to backup EmuNAND, just SysNAND.

So I have been updating my emunand all the way from 4.xx to 11.xx with pit stops at 7 9 10 and 11 BUT through the online method NOT the card method.

I have my sysnand still at 4.xx but have updated emunand all the way up to 11.1. I boot the gateway normally through the profile hack thing in sysnand to get to emunand

"The profile hack thing" is what I mean by MSET. I may very well be wrong about this restriction (the Gateway team may have solved it at some point), but I'd rather wait until @Bu2d85 confirms that this scenario is safe, as it's probably a rare occurence nowadays to see someone still using the old method.

Awesome. Ok ill stand by.

So is an update from a cart Rom in emunand different then doing it from online?

Funnily enough I am in exactly the same position (using MSET sysnand 4.2) and want to update emunand with yoshi's woolly world. Appreciate it if anyone can confirm that this works?

I would like to answer the question purposed in the title and the answer is, there was kind of an update from Gateway.
It's been mostly confirmed that they are working on Stargate 3DS and most likely are working with the Sky3DS team to make this cart. So most likely Gateway will no longer see any official updates.

They promised latest EmuNAND support and one new feature, so I doubt they'll just leave people hanging like that. They may be busy, but I think they will at least deliver that final big update, and later on stick to just EmuNAND (or SysNAND, who knows) support while saving the new stuff for Stargate.

They are a sketchy team of sketchy people who are working in the sketchiest part of China. Flashcart teams have commonly promised a lot of things and never delivered.
I am not trying to be mean, but I've been part of the scene long enough to know when a flashcart team is planning on ditching the old for something new.

If you already updated to 11.1 you do not have to worry about keys. Cart updates and online updates are just about the same except the cart only updates the "core" files and not things like the web browser or the sound app.

It's fine just update to 11.2 using a game.

That's not entirely true, and I can state that with absolute 100% certainty considering I helped discover a pretty nasty early bug in their cheat engine during testing. So, they've certainly had some sketchy practices (the clone bricking debacle), but let's not be entirely disingenuous here in calling them sketchy Chinamen, cause there's definitely a consistent European/English-speaking development component.
As for support, this is a cart that was released with initial support from 4.1-4.5, through 9 and up to 11.2. That's one of the best records for a closed flashcart or mod for any console I've seen in the modern era (since at least Team Xecuter's Xbox days, certainly better than even DMS team's PS2 support). Again, I don't like defending Gateway - they've been slow and this Stargate nonsense is a bit of a fuck you in my view with the lack of updated support this release. That said, I've gotten FAR more life out of this flashcart than I ever expected to upon initial release (the cheats alone were a later addition if you recall), and I'd wager a surprising number of buyers would probably agree.

Do not do this until further confirmation, unless you have a way to dump/restore your EmuNAND, which I assume you don't, since you only use Gateway. I believe this method bricks your EmuNAND with any update above 7.0.0. I remember doing it in SysNAND for 4.2.0 to 4.5.0, and on EmuNAND for some other version, but I think that the keys changing in 7.0.0 broke this for some reason. If someone confirms I'm wrong, then there's one thing I'm sure of: UPDATE ONLY WITH A ROM FROM YOUR REGION
I don't think so, I have told dozens of people to update with a Yoshi's Wooly World rom and there have been no reports of bricks. Where did you get this info from?
